A&M Baseball
The A&M baseball team won their game against the University of Texas yesterday with a score of 6-4. This is the team’s fourth consecutive win, and they are now ranked fourth in the nation. The team’s next game is against Baylor on Friday.
Team History
In 1893, the first organized baseball team was formed at Texas A&M. The team was made up of cadets from the Corps of Cadets and competed against other schools in the area.
In 1894, the team became a member of the Southwest Conference, which it would compete in for the next 80 years.
During that time, the Aggies won 12 conference championships and made 28 NCAA tournament appearances, including five trips to the College World Series. The team also produced 83 Major League Baseball players, six Hall of Famers, and two Olympians.
In 1974, Texas A&M left the Southwest Conference to become an independent school. The Aggies competed as an independent until they joined the Big 12 Conference in 1997.
As a member of the Big 12, Texas A&M has won four conference championships and made 20 NCAA tournament appearances, including four trips to the College World Series. The team has also produced 21 MLB players, one Hall of Famer, and one Olympian.
Roster
The A&M baseball team roster is packed with talented players that have led the team to victory time and time again. Some of the standout players on the roster include:
-Pitcher Cole Irvin, who was recently drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the first round of the 2018 MLB draft.
-Outfielder Nick Banks, who was named a Preseason All-American by Baseball America prior to the start of the 2018 season.
-Shortstop J.B. Bukauskas, who was selected as a Preseason All-American by Collegiate Baseball prior to the start of the 2018 season.
The Game
The A&M baseball team won their third game in a row with a score of 5-4 against their opponents. This gives the team a record of 3-0 so far this season. The team’s next game is scheduled for tomorrow against the same opponents.
A&M vs. University of Houston
In a game that saw lead changes and big hits, the A&M Baseball team came out on top against the University of Houston Cougars, 8-6. The Aggies were propelled by a big sixth inning, in which they put up five runs to take the lead.hl

A&M’s Pitching
Pitching was the name of the game for A&M, as they only allowed 4 hits and 2 runs against a very good Texas Tech lineup. Starter Asa Lacy went 6 innings, giving up only 2 hits and 1 run while striking out 9. The Aggies brought in Blake Walston in relief, who pitched 3 innings of 1-hit ball. Walston struck out 5 batters and did not allow a run, picking up the win. Cason Shrode came in to close it out in the 9th, getting the final 3 outs to earn the save.
A&M’s Hitting
Offensively, A&M was able to put together some big innings. In the bottom of the first, Will Frizzell and Braden Shewmake hit back-to-back home runs to put the Aggies up early 2-0. The team would tack on two more in the inning thanks to a RBI double from Hunter Coleman and a RBI single from Logan Foster. A&M would extend their lead to 5-0 in the second inning when Mikey Hoehner hit a solo home run.

It was a close game, but the A&M baseball team pulled through and scored another win against their opponent. This makes it their fourth win in a row. What’s next for the team? They have a few days off to relax and recover before their next game on Friday.
