Anthony Bender was a professional baseball player who played for the New York Yankees Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers
Bender was born on December 12, 1971, in Brooklyn, New York. He was drafted by the Yankees in the sixth round of the 1989 Major League Baseball Draft. Bender made his Major League debut with the Yankees on September 20, 1992, and played in two games for them that season. He was traded to the Cubs on May 15, 1993, for utility player Paul Assenmacher.
Bender appeared in eight games for the Cubs during the 1993 season and one game for them in 1994 before being traded to the Dodgers on June 27, 1994, for infielder Dave Hansen. Bender played in four games for the Dodgers during the 1994 season. He became a free agent after the 1994 season and signed with the Boston Red Sox on January 16, 1995. Bender was released by the Red Sox on March 29, 1995. He then signed with the Chicago White Sox on April 3, 1995. Bender played in one game for the White Sox during the 1995 season before being released on May 12, 1995.
Bender died of a heart attack on November 28, 2010, at his home in Queens, New York.
