Are The Wwe Belts Real Gold?

Have you ever wondered if the championship belts in WWE are really made of gold? Well, wonder no more! In this blog post, we’ll take a look at the history of WWE belts and whether or not they’re really made of gold.

WWE belts

Many people often wonder if the WWE belts are real gold. The answer to that question is yes, the WWE belts are real gold. The WWE has a long history of using gold belts. The first ever WWE Champion was crowned with a gold belt in 1963.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship

The WWE World Heavyweight Championship is a world heavyweight championship created and promoted by the American professional wrestling promotion WWE on the SmackDown brand. It is one of two world titles in WWE, alongside the WWE Universal Championship that was created for the Raw brand as a result of the 2016 WWE draft. The current champion is AJ Styles, who is in his first reign.

The title was established under then-WWE CEO Linda McMahon in 2002 as the original world championship of her promotion, which before 2002 operated as the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). McMahon awarded it to Brock Lesnar, and he became the inaugural champion. The title remained deactivated until December 2013 when WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon announced that there would be two world titles complementing each other—the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on SmackDown and the newly established WWE World Heavyweight Championship on Raw—as a result of then-WWE Champion Randy Orton being drafted to SmackDown as part of the 2013 WWE draft. At Extreme Rules in June 2014, then-WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan defeated then-WWE Champion John Cena in a title unification match thus creating one unified championship again. The title was then renamed back to its original name of “World Heavyweight Championship”, though it would still be referred to as “WWE World Heavyweight Championship” until June 9, 2015, when it was renamed back to simply “WWE Championship”, unifying it with the former undisputed version of the title which had been deactivated in August 2001 following WCW’s acquisition by Vince McMahon and eventual absorption into his company. In July 2016, a brand extension Draftseparated its roster once again into two separate brands with each having their own separate world championship—the Universal Championship for Raw with Brock Lesnar as its inaugural champion; and for SmackDown Live—the WWE Championship with AJ Styles as its inaugural champion following his victory over reigning champion Dean Ambrose at Backlash earlier that month. concurrently also reintroducing its original name of “World Heavyweight Championship” asRaw’s top prize while still referring to itself as “WWE World Heavyweight Champion” until August 2016 when it was officially shortened back to only “World Heavyweight Champion”.

WWE Universal Championship

The title has changed hands a record 20 times since its inception; it has been inactive since April 2019 when Samoa Joe was injured and had to vacate it.

The title was originally created as the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) United States Heavyweight Championship on June 7, 1971, with Harley Race becoming the inaugural champion. When the NWA withdrew from sponsoring the title in January 1975, it was renamed the World Wrestling Federation United States Heavyweight Championship and Jerry Lawler became its first champion. The title then became exclusive to WWF’s Mid-Atlantic territory while continuing to be promoted in other NWA member promotions. When WWF broke away from the NWA in 1983, it dropped all NWA dependencies and stopped recognizing every other promotion as legitimate; this resulted in various NWA titles being withdrawn or deactivated. As a result, only two wrestlers have held both championships: Jerry Lawler and Dolph Ziggler; Dolph Ziggler held both titles simultaneously for 22 days before losing his first championship (the United States).

On July 15, 2016 at Battleground, then-WWE Champion Dean Ambrose defeated Seth Rollins to win the title for a second time, making him only the fourth wrestler to have won both belts. At Extreme Rules 2017 Kurt Angle defeated Rollins for his first singles gold in WWE since 2006–2007 as he became a 5 time champion. Ambrose regained it at Great Balls of Fire but lost it again to Owens at SummerSlam 2017 Owens also became only 2nd person behind Ziggler (and 4th wrestler overall) to hold both US & IC titles at same time as he won US Title from AJ Styles later that night after retaining IC Title against Nakamura earlier in PPV

The title remained inactive until 1983 when Don Muraco won a tournament at Madison Square Garden to become its first champion; however, he never defended it and eventually abandoned it amid the WWF’s championship hierarchy that year.

In April 2002 at WrestleMania X8, then-WWE Undisputed Champion Triple H defeated Chris Jericho for both titles unifying them into one championship again. In July 2016 at Battleground, then-WWE Universal Champion Finn Balor vacatesir due to injury making it once again its own independent championship.
