What Does the As Baseball Schedule Look Like?
The MLB schedule was released on Wednesday night and there are a lot of things that stand out. Here’s a look at what the as baseball schedule looks like.
The regular season
The regular season of Major League Baseball (MLB) is a 162-game season that begins in late March or early April, and ends in late September or early October. Each team plays 162 games, which are divided equally between home games and away games. A typical MLB schedule will have each team playing about 20 divisional opponents (40% of their games), 20 “interleague” opponents from the other league (10%), and 14 games against clubs from the same league but outside their division (35%).
The post-season
If the A’s make the post-season, they will play a best-of-five divisional series against the team with the best record in the American League. The divisional series will be followed by a best-of-seven American League Championship Series, and then the winner of that series will advance to the World Series.
The off-season
The off-season is when baseball teams make trades and sign free agents to get ready for the upcoming season. The schedule typically starts in early November and ends in late February.
During the off-season, teams can make trades with other teams and sign free agents who are not under contract with any team. Trades can happen at any time during the off-season, but they usually happen during the Winter Meetings, which is a four-day event where all 30 MLB teams meet to discuss business. Free agents can be signed at any time during the off-season.
The off-season is also when baseball teams hold their spring training. Spring training is when players start practicing and preparing for the upcoming season. It typically lasts for six weeks and takes place in Florida or Arizona.
