Aynor Baseball is a non-profit, competitive baseball league for kids ages 5-12 in Aynor, SC. Aynor Baseball is a 501(c)3 organization.

Aynor Baseball is a league of their own. Literally. The Aynor baseball team is the only team in the country that is entirely made up of players with disabilities. And they’re pretty darn good, too.
The team was started by Head Coach Jimmie Johnson who himself has a disability. Johnson has coached the team for four years now, and they’ve only gotten better and better each year. In fact, they just won their first ever league championship!
Coach Johnson attributes the team’s success to their hard work and dedication, as well as the support of their families and friends. But most of all, he says, it’s because they love to play baseball “Baseball is for everyone,” he says. “And we’re proving that.”

In the early days of Aynor baseball, the game was played informally between local teams. There was no real league or regulation, and teams would often play each other in impromptu games. This all changed in the early 1900s when the Aynor Baseball League was founded.
The Aynor baseball league was officially established in 1903, and it was the first organized Baseball League in the area. The league initially had four teams: the Aynor Athletics, the Conway Tigers, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans and the North Myrtle Beach Giants. These teams would play each other in a standard season, with the winner of the League Championship determined by who had the best record at the end of the season.
The Aynor Baseball League quickly grew in popularity, and by 1909 there were eight teams in the league. In addition to the original four teams, there were now also the Loris Bulldogs, the Surfside Cardinals, The Surfside Waves, and The Seaside Seahawks. The league continued to grow and by 1925 there were 16 teams playing in the Aynor Baseball League

The Aynor Baseball League How It Works

The league is split up into two divisions, ages 4-8 and 9-12. Each division has four teams, and each team plays every other team in their division twice during the season. The season ends with a playoff tournament to determine the champion of each division.
All games are played on Saturday mornings at the Aynor Recreation Center The cost to join the league is $40 per child, which includes a team shirt and hat. Scholarships are available for families who cannot afford the fee.

The Aynor baseball league is made up of six teams, each representing a different area of town. The teams are the Northside Pioneers, the Southside Sluggers, the Eastside All-Stars, the Westside Warriors, the Central City Reds, and the Downtown Express.
Each team plays a total of twenty games throughout the course of the season – ten games against each of the other teams in the league. At the end of the regular season the top four teams advance to the playoffs. The two semifinal games are played at the home field of the higher-seeded team, and the final game is played at neutral site.
