Can Colin Kaepernick Play In The NFL?

Colin Kaepernick is a free agent NFL quarterback who as of September 2017, has been unable to find work in the NFL.

Colin Kaepernick’s Skills

Colin Kaepernick is a former American football quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL) for six seasons. He began his professional career with the San Francisco 49ers, where he played for four seasons. In 2016, he became a free agent and has not been signed by any team since then. In 2020, he was included in the NFL Top 100 list.

His arm

One of the main skills that Kaepernick is known for is his arm. He has a very strong arm and can make all of the throws that are required in the NFL. He can make all of the throws with good velocity and accuracy. This is one of the main reasons that he was able to have so much success in his first few years in the NFL.

His speed

Colin Kaepernick is one of the most controversial players in the NFL. After taking over for an injured Alex Smith midway through the 2012 season, Kaepernick led the San Francisco 49ers to within inches of a Super Bowl victory. He then struggled mightily the following season and was benched in favor of Blaine Gabbert. Recently, Kaepernick opted out of his contract with the 49ers and is now a free agent.

So, can Colin Kaepernick play in the NFL? The answer is yes, but his skill set is very limited. He is a below-average passer and he doesn’t have the speed or quickness to be a consistent threat as a runner. He also doesn’t have the size or strength to be an effective blocker. In short, Colin Kaepernick is a one-dimensional player who would be best suited as a backup quarterback or a gadget player in certain offensive schemes.

His accuracy

An important thing to remember with any discussion of Colin Kaepernick’s play is that, while his numbers aren’t great, they’re not as bad as his reputation.

Kaepernick is often criticized for being inaccurate, but that’s not quite fair. In 2016, he ranked 19th in the NFL in completion percentage, at 59.2%. That’s not good, but it’s not disastrous, either. And it’s worth noting that his percentage has gone up in each of the last three seasons; in fact, it jumped by over 4% from 2015 to 2016.

There are a couple of factors that play into Kaepernick’s inaccuracy. First of all, he doesn’t have the greatest receiving corps in the world to work with. Secondly, he tends to hold onto the ball a bit too long at times, which gives defenders a chance to close in on his receivers.

Kaepernick also doesn’t have the strongest arm in the NFL; he doesn’t have a ton of trouble completing short and intermediate passes, but he does tend to struggle with deep balls. This is another area where having better receivers would help him out; if they could get open downfield more often, he’d be able to take advantage of that.

The NFL’s Concerns

Colin Kaepernick is a free agent quarterback who is perhaps best known for starting a wave of protests among NFL players over racial injustice and police brutality. Some have speculated that his activism is the reason he has not been signed to a team for the 2017 season. NFL teams may have concerns about signing Kaepernick due to his protest, which could lead to backlash from fans.

His protests

Since 2016, Colin Kaepernick has been a free agent, unsigned by any team in the NFL. In that time, he’s filed a grievance against the NFL alleging that they’ve colluded to keep him unsigned. Kaepernick was the first NFL player to kneel during the National Anthem as a way to protest police brutality and racial injustice in America. He hasn’t been signed by an NFL team since he became a free agent in 2017.

His attitude

The NFL’s concerns about Colin Kaepernick appear to center around his attitude and whether he is fully committed to playing football, rather than any perceived lack of talent.

In a recent interview, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said that the team is “trying to figure out” if Kaepernick is “all in or all out” when it comes to football.

“I think that’s what you’ve got to ask yourself, because everyone sees he’s got the ability to do it,” Shanahan said. “Is he dedicated to it? Is he willing to put in the work?”

Shanahan also said that the 49ers have not considered signing Kaepernick because they do not believe he is fully committed to playing football.

“I want guys that are totally bought in,” Shanahan said. “Colin has had a lot of success in this league and I understand why he would want [to] do other things, but when you’re talkin’ about a quarterback, I want somebody that lives, breathes and sleeps football and wants to be great at it.”

These comments echo those made by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in March, when he said that teams are not signing Kaepernick because they do not believe he is “a quarterback” anymore.

“People don’t want to see social issues become sports issues,” Goodell said. “But we have to understand that there are people who have different perspectives … we haveto try to find common ground.”

His work ethic

Since opting out of his contract with the San Francisco 49ers in March, Colin Kaepernick has kept a low public profile. He has not thrown a pass in an organized football game in more than 10 months, and though he has been working out five days a week in New York, he has not been training with any professional quarterbacks, receivers or tight ends.

Kaepernick’s Future

Colin Kaepernick, former San Francisco 49ers quarterback, has not been signed to an NFL team since 2016. He is now a free agent. many people believe that the reason he has not been signed is due to his protests during the National Anthem. his protests sparked a nationwide controversy. some people believe that he should not be allowed to play in the NFL because of his protests, while others believe that he has a right to protest and should be able to play.

His options

There are a few different options for Colin Kaepernick if he wants to play in the NFL again. He can sign with a team, he can try out for a team, or he can go to another league.

If he wants to sign with a team, there are a few teams that could use a quarterback and might be interested in him. The Baltimore Ravens could use him as a backup to Joe Flacco. The Miami Dolphins could use him as a backup to Ryan Tannehill. The Buffalo Bills could use him as a backup to Tyrod Taylor. The New York Jets could also use him as a backup to Josh McCown.

If he wants to try out for a team, there are a few teams that could be interested in seeing what he can do. The San Francisco 49ers might want to see what he can do since he was their starting quarterback for awhile. The Chicago Bears could also be interested in seeing what he can do since they are looking for a new starting quarterback.

If Kaepernick decides to go to another league, there are two main options: the Canadian Football League (CFL) and the Alliance of American Football (AAF). There have been some players who have gone from the CFL/AAF to the NFL, so it is possible for Kaepernick to make his way back to the NFL if he plays well in either of these leagues.

What he needs to do

First and foremost, he needs to be signed by an NFL team. any team. At this point, it does not matter if he is a starter or not. He just needs to be on an NFL roster.

Secondly, he needs to lay low and not cause any more problems off the field. He’s already been blackballed by the NFL and further distractions will only make things worse for him.

Lastly, he needs to play well when given the chance. He has shown in the past that he is capable of being a starting quarterback in this league but his recent struggles have caused many to doubt his ability. If he can’t play well when given the chance, it’s unlikely that any team will want to sign him moving forward.
