The Contenders is a Basketball Program that develops student-athletes. The program is designed to help young people succeed in basketball and in life. The Contenders provide an opportunity for young people to learn the game of basketball develop their skills, and compete at a high level. The program also helps young people grow academically and socially. The Contenders are committed to helping young people reach their full potential as student-athletes and as citizens.

The Contenders Philosophy

The Contenders philosophy is simple: we believe that every young person has the potential to be a great basketball player We provide the opportunity for every player to develop their skills and reach their fullest potential.

We are passionate about basketball and we believe in hard work We think that if you put in the effort, you will see results on the court. We strive to create a positive environment where players can learn and grow.

We are committed to helping our players reach their goals, whether that means playing at the college level or just becoming the best player they can be. We are here to support them every step of the way.

The Contenders Program Structure

The Contenders basketball program is designed to develop well-rounded young athletes The program is divided into three tiers: the Developmental League, the All-Star League, and the Elite League.

The Developmental League is the entry point for most athletes in the program. The focus at this level is on developing Basic Skills and learning the game of basketball Athletes in the Developmental League will have the opportunity to compete in practices and scrimmages against other teams in their age group.

The All-Star League is for athletes who are ready to take their game to the next level. The All-Star League features more competitive games and increased skill development. All-Star teams are selected through atryouts process, and athletes in this league will practice and play together for an entire season.

The Elite League is the top tier of competition in the Contenders Basketball Program Elite teams are selected through a tryouts process, and athletes in this league will practice and play together for an entire season. The Elite League features the most competitive games and skilled players in the program.

The Contenders Training & Development

The Contenders Training & Development is a Basketball Program that provides player development training for young athletes. The program is designed to improve the skills of its participants through proper technique and game play. The Contenders also offer Strength and Conditioning programs to help players improve their physical performance.

The Contenders Competition

The Contenders Competition is an annual basketball event open to teams from across the country. The competition is divided into two divisions, with each division having its own set of rules and regulations. The goal of the event is to provide a fair and competitive environment for teams of all levels to test their skills against each other.

The Contenders College Placement

Since 2011, The Contenders has helped more than 1,000 young men from underserved communities in New York City realize their potential – on and off the court.

The Contenders’ comprehensive approach to player development gets results: Contenders have earned college scholarships and gone on to play at the highest levels of Division I, II and III basketball. In addition, our players have gone on to successful careers in a wide range of industries, from medicine to finance to law.

We are proud of our success in helping our young men navigate the often-overlooked path from High School to college and beyond. Our unique program Nes Basketball development with rigorous academic support, character building, life skills training and guidance through the college application process. Our goal is to develop well-rounded young men who are prepared for success in college and beyond.

The Contenders Alumni

The Contenders basketball program has been training young athletes for over 20 years. The program has produced many successful alumni, including several who have gone on to play in the NBA.

The Contenders Impact

In the eight years since The Contenders began, the program has impacted the lives of more than 1,500 young men in Chicago. Of those participants, 98% have gone on to graduate from high school and 90% have gone on to college.

The Contenders is a free eight-week summer basketball program for Chicago Public Schools students in grades 6-12. The program emphasizes character development, teamwork, and sportsmanship, as well as providing a safe space for participants to learn and compete.

Since its inception, The Contenders has partnered with more than 25 different CPS schools and 50 community organizations. The program has also been recognized by the White House the Department of Education, and Nike’s N7 Fund.

The Contenders Future

The Contenders basketball program is one of the most successful youth development programs in the country. Founded in 2006, the program has helped over 1,000 young men develop their skills on and off the court. The program is based on the philosophy that basketball can teach LIFE LESSONS and help young people reach their full potential.

The Contenders program has produced some of the best high school and college players in the country. In addition to developing their basketball skills the program provides its participants with academic support and guidance. The goal is to prepare them for success in college and beyond.

The Contenders have won numerous championships at all levels, including the AAU National Championship the Nike EYBL Championship, and the high school National Championship The program has also been featured on ESPN, CBS, and NBC.

The future of The Contenders is bright. With a proven track record of success, The Contenders are poised to continue their impact on the lives of young people for years to come.

The Contenders Support

The Contenders basketball program is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides children in underserved communities with the opportunity to play organized basketball, learn life skills, and improve their academic performance.

Since our founding in 2006, The Contenders has served over 10,000 kids in New York City Los Angeles and Chicago. We are proud to have an 80% success rate of our participants graduating from high school and going on to college.
