The Colonels have won back-to-back 9th Region championships and have made two straight trips to the state semifinals. Head coach Scott Schweitzer has built the Colonels into a perennial contender, and he has done it with a mix of homegrown talent and transfers. Covington Catholic has been able to attract some of the best players in the region, and it has paid off on the field.
The Colonels are led by senior pitcher and Louisville commit Luke Scheibert. Scheibert is one of the top pitchers in the state, and he is coming off a season in which he posted a 9-1 record with a 1.71 ERA. He will be joined in the rotation by fellow senior Nick Dagen, who was 8-2 with a 2.45 ERA last season.
