What is Legion Baseball?
Legion baseball is a nationwide summer baseball program for high school-aged players. It is operated by the American Legion, a veterans’ organization, in the United States. Each team represents a specific geographical area, usually a town or city.
De Pere Legion Baseball has been around since 1946 and is one of the most successful programs in the state, winning numerous state championships. The team plays its home games at historic Brown County Veteran’s Memorial Arena, located on the east side of Green Bay.
Legion baseball is different than other summer baseball programs in that it places an emphasis on patriotism and respect for the flag and our country’s military veterans. Every game begins with the players and coaches standing at attention while the national anthem is played.

The benefits of Legion Baseball
De Pere Legion Baseball is a terrific option for many high school baseball players looking to play summer ball. There are a number of benefits to playing Legion ball that can help players develop their skills and prepare for the next level of competition.
One of the biggest benefits of Legion baseball is the level of competition. Legion teams are typically made up of the best players from their respective high school teams, so the level of play is generally quite high. This can be a great way for players to test themselves against better competition and prepare for the rigors of college or professional baseball.
Another benefit of De Pere Legion baseball is the quantity and quality of games played. A typical Legion season consists of around 30 games, which is much more than most high school or travel baseball teams play. This allows players to really fine-tune their skills and get a lot of reps in game situations. Additionally, all of the games are played against very good competition, so players are always being challenged.
Finally, De Pere Legion baseball provides players with an excellent opportunity to be seen by college and professional scouts. Because the level of play is so high, scouts from all levels are often in attendance at Legion games looking for talented players. This makes it a great way for players to increase their visibility and potentially take their careers to the next level.
