Cole’s departure from WWE
On October 5th, 2020, Adam Cole took to Twitter to announce his departure from WWE. This sent shockwaves through the wrestling world, as Cole was one of the top Superstars in WWE. Cole had been with WWE for almost three years, and was a former NXT Champion. So, why did Cole leave WWE?
Cole’s last match with WWE
In his final match with WWE, Cole faced off against Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35. The match was considered one of the best in WrestleMania history, with both men putting on an excellent performance. Cole would ultimately lose the match, but he gained a lot of respect from fans and pundits alike.
After the match, Cole gave an emotional speech in which he said that he was proud to have been a part of WWE and that he was grateful for everything that the company had done for him. He then left the ring and walked up the ramp, seemingly signalling his retirement from professional wrestling.
Cole’s departure from WWE came as a surprise to many, as he was one of the company’s top stars. It is unclear why Cole decided to leave WWE, but it is possible that he was not happy with his position in the company. Cole had previously been critical of WWE’s creative direction, and it is possible that he felt that he was not being used properly by WWE.
Cole’s status with WWE
As of right now, Cole is no longer under contract with WWE. He was a free agent as of January 1st 2021, and his last appearance on WWE television was during the 2020 Royal Rumble, in which he was quickly eliminated. It’s not currently known what Cole’s plans are, but he could return to WWE in the future if he so chooses.
Cole has not publicly commented on his departure from WWE, but it’s speculated that he decided to leave due to creative differences. Cole was reportedly disgruntled with his position in WWE, and wasn’t happy with the way his character was being used. It’s also possible that Cole wanted to explore other options outside of WWE, and decided to take advantage of his free agent status.
Only time will tell what Cole decides to do next, but it’s safe to say that he won’t be forgotten anytime soon. He’s one of the most popular superstars in recent memory, and has cemented himself as one of the best wrestlers in the world today.
Cole’s career outside of WWE
Since Adam Cole left WWE in early 2020, he has been very successful in his career outside of WWE. He has been very successful in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Cole has also been very successful in independent wrestling.
Cole’s work with ROH
Adam Cole began working with Ring of Honor in 2009, and quickly became one of the most popular wrestlers in the company. He became the ROH World Champion in 2013, and held the title for over a year. He has also won the ROH World Tag Team Championship, ROH World Television Championship, and ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship.
Cole has also worked with other independent wrestling companies such as Pro Wrestling Guerilla (PWG) and Evolve. In 2017, he signed a contract with WWE, but was released from his contract after just a few months.
Since leaving WWE, Cole has continued to work with ROH and other independent wrestling companies. He is currently one of the top stars in ROH, and is widely considered to be one of the best wrestlers in the world.
Cole’s work with NJPW
In early 2014, Cole began appearing with New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), initially as a guest commentator during the NJPW World Tag League tournament. Shortly thereafter, Cole made his in-ring debut for NJPW, wrestling against Colt Cabana at The New Beginning in Osaka on February 5. The following day, Cole defeated Davey Richards in his second match with the promotion. Cole continued to work select dates for NJPW throughout the year.
In September 2014, Cole entered the G1 Climax 24 tournament, where he finished with a record of six wins and three losses, failing to advance to the finals. The following month, Cole took part in the NJPW Super Junior Tag Tournament 2014, teaming with Beretta; the pair reached the semifinals of the tournament before being defeated by The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson). In January 2015, at Wrestle Kingdom 9 in Tokyo Dome, Cole unsuccessfully challenged Kushida for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship.
Cole made his return to NJPW on January 4, 2016, at Wrestle Kingdom 10 in Tokyo Dome, challenging Will Ospreay for the British Heavyweight Championship. During his time away from WWE in 2016 and early 2017, Adam was announced as one of sixteen men taking part in New Japan’s 2017 Super Junior Tag Tournament. Again teaming with Beretta as Team Smash Mouth (a play on WWE’s tag team name), they made it all the way to semi finals before being defeated by Roppongi Vice (Rocky Romero and Trent Beretta). After losing another match to Roppongi Vice on March 6th at The New Beginning In Osaka 2017 Adam officially became a heel after spitting at Rocky Romero when their match was finished
Cole’s future in the wrestling business
Cole’s contract with WWE expired on July 16, 2019, and he chose not to renew it. Cole had been with WWE for eight years and was one of the most popular Superstars on the NXT roster. Cole is a three-time NXT Champion and was the longest-reigning champion in NXT history. Cole’s departure from WWE was a surprise to many, but it appears that Cole has big plans for the future.
Cole’s potential return to WWE
Although Cole’s departure from WWE was amicable, it’s possible that he could return to the company someday. In fact, Cole has indicated that he would be open to a return if the situation was right.
Cole is a very talented wrestler and it’s easy to see why WWE would be interested in having him back. He is a solid in-ring performer and he has a lot of charisma. Additionally, Cole is a former NXT Champion and he has a lot of name recognition.
If WWE offered Cole the right deal, it’s certainly possible that he would return to the company. However, Cole is currently happy with his current situation and it doesn’t seem likely that he will be returning to WWE anytime soon.
Cole’s future with ROH and NJPW
Cole signed a three-year contract extension with ROH in late 2019, a move that keeps him with the company through 2022. It’s a testament to Cole’s loyalty to ROH, as he could have easily signed a more lucrative deal with WWE. Despite his affinity for his home promotion, Cole will still wrestle for New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) on a sporadic basis. He is currently scheduled to compete in the 2020 G1 Climax tournament, one of NJPW’s most prestigous annual events.
As for his future outside of wrestling, Cole has expressed interest in writing and directing. He has also dabbled in acting, appearing in an episode of the hit TV show Riverdale. Whether Cole ever pursues these endeavors full-time remains to be seen, but it’s clear that he has many options available to him once he hangs up his boots.
In conclusion, Adam Cole is one of the most popular and talented wrestlers in the world today. His future is bright whether he stays with ROH, NJPW, or WWE. Wherever he goes, Adam Cole is sure to entertain fans and put on great matches.
