Box score

In a game that featured two of the best pitchers in the SEC, it was freshman pitcher Connor Noland who stole the show. Noland pitched seven innings, giving up just one run on four hits while striking out eight batters. It was a masterful performance by the young freshman, and it led the Razorbacks to a 3-1 victory over Mississippi State.

Noland did not allow a hit until the fourth inning, and he did not allow a run until the seventh. He was in complete control of the game from start to finish, and he showed why he is one of the best pitchers in the SEC. His performance was even more impressive because he was pitching against Mississippi State ace pitcher Blaine Knight. Knight is considered one of the best pitchers in the country, and Noland out-pitched him on Friday night.

The Razorbacks offense did just enough to support Noland, scoring three runs on six hits. Arkansas’s biggest hit of the game came in the seventh inning when Dominic Fletcher hit a two-run home run to give the Razorbacks a 3-1 lead. Fletcher has been one of Arkansas’s best players all season, and he came through in a big way on Friday night.

The Razorbacks will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as they take on Mississippi State in game two of the three-game series. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., and you can watch the game on SEC Network+.
