Cody Rhodes Returns to WWE

Cody Rhodes is making his return to WWE after a nearly two-year absence. Here’s everything you need to know about his return.

Rhodes’ History in WWE

After a stint in the independent circuit, Cody Rhodes made his return to WWE on the August 1, 2017 episode of SmackDown Live. Rhodes was previously with WWE from 2007-2016. During his first run with the company, Rhodes was a 2-time Intercontinental Champion and a Tag Team Champion.

His time as Stardust

Rhodes debuted his Stardust character in early 2014, coming out to congratulate his brother Goldust on his recent inductance into the WWE Hall of Fame. The brothers then began teaming together again, with Stardust’s gothic, eccentric persona helping them to recapture the WWE Tag Team Championship from The Usos at WrestleMania XXX. Rhodes continued to play Stardust over the next few years, developing a memorable rivalry with Arrow star Stephen Amell and even facing off against Goldust in a “Loser Leaves WWE” match at Battleground 2015 (which Stardust won, leading to Goldust’s temporary retirement).

His time on the independent circuit

In October 2016, it was announced that Rhodes had signed with Ring of Honor (ROH), making his in-ring return for the company at their pay-per-view (PPV) Final Battle on December 2, where he defeated Jay Lethal to win the ROH World Championship, becoming only the second man (after CM Punk) to hold both the WWE and ROH world titles. He vacated the title on February 25, 2017 due to an “impending WWE return”.

In early 2017, following his departure from WWE, Rhodes began making appearances for various independent promotions across North America and Europe. On March 3, he made his debut for Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW) in Glasgow, Scotland at Fear & Loathing IX, defeating Joe Coffey. The following day, he made his debut for Progress Wrestling in London at Chapter 45: We Believe In Wrestling!, teaming with Pete Dunne to defeat Trent Seven and Tyler Bate in a tag match.

On May 6 at House of Hardcore 32: The List Is Real in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Rhodes defeated Billy Gunn. The following day he made his debut for What Culture Pro Wrestling (WCPW), defeating Adam Maxted in a WCPW Internet Championship number one contender’s match to earn a future shot at then-champion Joey Ryan. That same day, it was reported that Rhodes had signed a contract with Impact Wrestling.

Why His Return Matters

Cody Rhodes, who left WWE in 2016, has returned to the company. His return is significant for a number of reasons. Firstly, it shows that WWE is willing to forgive past transgressions and welcome back former stars. Secondly, Cody is now a free agent and can wrestle for any company he wants. This could lead to him appearing in major rival promotions, which would increase interest in those brands.

His star power

In May of 2019, after a much-publicized departure from WWE, Cody Rhodes returned to the company that made him a star. Why does his return matter? Simply put, Cody Rhodes is one of the most charismatic and popular Superstars in WWE today.

The son of legendary wrestler Dusty Rhodes, Cody made his WWE debut in 2007. He quickly rose through the ranks, winning the Intercontinental Championship and World Tag Team Championship. In 2012, he formed the highly successful tag team The Shield with Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins.

Since then, Rhodes has continued to be one of the top Superstars in WWE. He is a two-time Intercontinental Champion and has won numerous other titles. He is also a former United States Champion and Mr. Money in the Bank. In addition to his in-ring accomplishments, he has also been praised for his work on WWE programming outside of the ring, including his starring role in the reality series Total Divas.

Cody Rhodes is one of the most talented and popular Superstars in WWE today. His return to WWE is sure to be a huge boost for the company.

His in-ring ability

While his in-ring ability has always been there, it seems that during his time away from WWE, Rhodes has only gotten better. His matches in NJPW and ROH against the likes of Jay Lethal, Kevin Owens, Kurt Angle, Kazuchika Okada and others have been nothing short of amazing, and he has managed to win several championships in the process.

How He Can Improve WWE

Cody Rhodes, now going by the name “The American Nightmare”, has returned to WWE. After a successful run in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro-Wrestling, he has come back to the company he spent the majority of his career with. How can he improve WWE?

His mic skills

Cody Rhodes was one of the most popular wrestlers in WWE, but he left the company in 2016. He has since gone on to have great success in other promotions, but many fans still want to see him return to WWE.

One of the biggest things that Cody Rhodes could do to improve WWE is to work on his mic skills. He was never really given the chance to show off his promo skills in WWE, and it would be great to see him cut loose on the mic in WWE.

Cody Rhodes is a great wrestler, and he has the potential to be a huge star in WWE. If he can work on his mic skills, there is no reason why he couldn’t be one of the top stars in the company.

His connection to the fans

Cody Rhodes has been a fan favorite for years, and his recent return to WWE has been welcomed by fans. His connection to the fans is one of the things that makes him such a successful wrestler, and it’s something that he’ll need to continue to capitalize on if he wants to remain successful in WWE.

Rhodes has always been good at connecting with the fans, and it’s one of the things that made him so popular during his first run with WWE. He was always able to get the crowd on his side, and he was able to get them invested in his matches. That’s a skill that not all wrestlers have, but it’s one that Rhodes has always possessed.

If Rhodes wants to continue to be successful in WWE, he’ll need to keep up his strong connection with the fans. He has the potential to be one of the top stars in WWE, but he’ll need to continue to connect with the fans if he wantsto achieve that goal.
