The first baseball team was fielded in 1892.
The team has appeared in the College World Series 17 times, including five straight appearances from 2010–2014, winning the national championship in 2010 and 2011. They have also won thirteen SEC championships, second only to LSU’s sixteen titles. As of 2019, thirty-seven Gamecocks have gone on to play Major League Baseball.

The Fans

How many people were at the game?
The answer to this question largely depends on how you define “full capacity.” The stadium’s current capacity is 8,242, but that number has fluctuated over the years. For instance, it was reduced to 7,600 in 2005 in order to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. However, the school has occasionally sought (and received) waivers that have allowed them to exceed capacity for big games. In 2012, for example, the school was granted a one-time waiver that allowed them to exceed capacity by 3% for a game against Clemson. So, assuming that the school has not received a similar waiver for tonight’s game, we can estimate that somewhere between 8,000 and 8,500 people will be in attendance.
What was the atmosphere like?
It was electric. The fans were cheering and waving their flags and cheering on their team. The team was pumped up and ready to play.
Who are some of the team’s most dedicated fans?
Some of the team’s most dedicated fans are season ticket holders. They have been to many games and have seen the team through good and bad times. They are passionate about their team and support them through thick and thin. Other fans may not be as dedicated, but they still enjoy going to the games and cheering on their team.
