In 2015, the Cavaliers finished the season with a record of 49-14 overall and 20-7 in conference play. They lost their first game in the 2015 College World Series against Arkansas, but went on to win their next two games against Ole Miss and Florida State before being eliminated by Vanderbilt in the semifinals.

Uva baseball is a historic program with much potential. The team has seen recent success but has not been able to keep up with the top teams in the country.

Uva Baseball’s Plans

In the wake of the 2020 college baseball season’s cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Virginia Cavaliers baseball team is turning its attention to the future. Head coach Brian O’Connor and his staff are already hard at work recruiting the class of 2025.

“Our class of 2025 is going to be a special group,” O’Connor said. “We’ve got some guys that we think can come in and make an immediate impact on our program.”

The class includes six pitchers, four infielders, and two outfielders. Among the highlights are left-handed pitcher Jackson Tate from Boston, Massachusetts, who was named a Perfect Game All-American; right-handed pitcher Ryder Ryan from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and shortstop Drew Hummel from Richmond, Virginia.

“We’re really excited about this group,” O’Connor said. “They have a chance to come in and make an impact right away.”

Uva Baseball’s New Stadium

The University of Virginia (UVA) Baseball team has a new home field, located at the UVA Corner. The new 6,000-seat ballpark is state of the art, with a covered grandstand, LED lighting, and a steel frame that allows for views of Charlottesville and beyond. The first game was played on February 22, 2020, against East Carolina.
