Don Bosco Baseball Roster: Who’s Who?

The Don Bosco Baseball team is made up of some of the best high school players in the country. Here’s a look at the roster for the 2019 season.

Don Bosco

The Don Bosco Baseball team is composed of 25 young men who have dedicated themselves to the sport. The team is made up of 11 seniors, 9 juniors, 4 sophomores, and 1 freshman. 23 of the 25 members of the team play in the field, with the remaining two players being catchers.

Location

Don Bosco is a private, all-male, Catholic high school in Crown Point, Indiana. The school’s campus covers approximately 100 acres (40 ha) and includes a college preparatory curriculum for grades 9–12.

The school colors are green and gold. The school is a member of the National Hoop Shoot Association and the Northern Indiana Athletic Conference. The conference includes schools from Lake and Porter counties in Indiana.

The school nickname is the Dons. “Don” is an abbreviation for the Latin word dominus, meaning “lord” or “master”.

Conference

The conference is the statistic that best represents a player’s career. It is the average of a player’s best three years. A player’s conference will increase as he plays more games and will decrease as he ages.

Don Bosco’s conference is 0.981.

Mascot

Don Bosco is a famous 19th century Italian saint who is the patron saint of salesmen, manliness, and practical jokes. He is also the namesake of our very own Don Bosco baseball team! The team’s mascot is a jolly man dressed as a medieval bishop, complete with a staff and a wide-brimmed hat. He is often seen cheering on the team and playing practical jokes on opponents.

Don Bosco’s Baseball team has a new head coach this year. His name is Coach Casey and he was a big league pitcher for many years. He has brought in some new blood to the team and they have been working extremely hard in practice. The team’s goal this year is to make it to the state championship.

The Coaches

The Don Bosco Baseball coaching staff is made up of some of the most experienced and successful coaches in the country. Coach Tony Graziano has over 25 years of experience coaching high school and collegiate baseball. He has won numerous championships and coached many All-Americans. Coach Graziano is joined by assistant coaches Tim Murray and Mike Rooney. Coach Murray has over 20 years of experience coaching baseball and has been a part of four championship teams. Coach Rooney has over 15 years of experience coaching baseball and has also been a part of four championship teams.

Head Coach

The Head Coach is responsible for the overall operation of the baseball program. He reports directly to the Athletic Director. The Head Coach recruits student athletes, assigns coaching staff, schedules games/practices, attends meetings and functions as a liaison between the student athletes and their parents.

Assistant Coaches

The assistant coaches of the Don Bosco baseball team are Bill Bertolini and Mike Cossetta. Coach Bertolini is in his first season as an assistant coach with the team. He has over 30 years of coaching experience, including a stint as the head coach at St. Mary’s High School. Coach Cossetta is also in his first season with the team. He has over 20 years of coaching experience and has been an assistant coach at Bergen Catholic High School for the past 10 years.

The Future

After a disappointing end to last season, the Don Bosco baseball team is looking to its young roster to provide a spark this year. With a mix of experienced veterans and talented up-and-comers, the team is hoping to surprise some people this year. Here’s a look at the team’s roster.

Don Bosco’s Varsity Baseball team is looking good this season! The team is full of new talented players that are fit to take the field. Social Media

The baseball diamonds at Don Bosco Prep are manicured to perfection, the infields raked and the outfield grass cut short. But these days, there’s another important ingredient to a successful high school baseball program: a strong social media presence.

That’s why the school has hired a full-time social media coordinator, Caitlyn Pike, to help promote the team and its players.

“It’s so important for these kids to have a platform to show their skills,” Pike said. “It helps with recruiting and it helps them get exposure to college and professional scouts.”

Pike, who is also a former college softball player, said she uses a variety of platforms — Twitter, Instagram, Facebook — to reach potential fans and followers. She also relies on the school’s website and Snapchat account to get the word out.

The school has more than 5,000 followers on Twitter and nearly 2,000 on Instagram. Snapchat is also becoming increasingly popular; Pike said she frequently gets snaps from students and parents asking for game updates.

“It’s really important for us to be where the kids are, and that’s definitely on Snapchat and Instagram,” she said. “We want to make sure we’re giving them the information they want in the format that they want it in.”

Pike said she often live-tweets games and posts highlights on Instagram; she also posts team news and player profiles on the website. And she always makes sure to tag relevant people and organizations — like Major League Baseball scouts — in her posts.

In addition to promoting the team, Pike said her job is also about building relationships with fans, both old and new. She frequently interacts with fans on social media, responding to comments and questions about the team. And at games, she can be found handing out free shirts and other promotional items.

ultimately, Pike said her goal is simple: To help the team win games — and championships — by sharing its story with as many people as possible.
