Location and History
Friends University Baseball Field is located in Wichita, KS and currently serves as the home field for Friends University Falcons. The field has a long and unique history, having hosted a multitude of professional baseball teams over the years.
The field was originally built in 1934 and served as the home field for the Wichita Senators, a minor League Baseball team affiliated with the Kansas City Monarchs of the Negro Leagues. In 1941, the Senators moved to Denver and became the Denver Bears. The field then sat vacant for a number of years until it was used as a World War II internment camp for Japanese-Americans.
After the war, the field once again became a minor league baseball venue, this time hosting the Wichita Indians. The Indians played at Friends University Baseball Field from 1946-1964 before moving to West Texas The ballpark then changed hands several times before being purchased by Friends University in 2002.
