What is the Hockey Texas Affiliate Camp?

The Hockey Texas Affiliate Camp is a girl’s only camp that focuses on developing the technical and fundamental skills required to excel at hockey. The camp is open to any female player aged 8-18 years old, of any skill level. The program is led by former professional player, Meghan Agosta, who is also a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and Four-time World Champion.

The Hockey Texas Affiliate Camp runs for one week in August at the Islanders Iceworks facility in team colors of Royal Blue, Steel Gray, and White. The camp provides daily on and off ice instruction, along with video analysis and classroom sessions. There are also daily Power Skating and Stick-Handling clinics open to all participants.

What is the purpose of the camp?

The Hockey Texas Affiliate Camp is a camp designed to provide girls of all ages and skill levels with the opportunity to learn more about the sport of hockey. The camp focuses on teaching the Basic Skills of hockey, as well as providing campers with the opportunity to scrimmage and play games.

Who is eligible to participate in the camp?

The Hockey Texas Affiliate Camp is open to any girl who meets the following criteria:

--USA Hockey membership through the 2017-18 Season is required
-Players must be 9 years old or older as of December 31, 2017
-Players cannot turn 14 years old prior to December 31, 2017

What are the benefits of attending the camp?

The Hockey Texas Affiliate Camp is a week-long camp that allows girls to learn from and skate with some of the best players in the country. The camp is held at the same time as the boys’ camp, so girls have the opportunity to interact with and learn from the boys as well.

There are many benefits to attending the Hockey Texas Affiliate Camp. Girls will improve their skating skills, learn new techniques, and make new friends. They will also have the opportunity to meet and talk to college coaches who may offer them scholarships to attend their school.

What will the camp schedule be like?

The Hockey Texas Affiliate Camp has a full day and evening schedule designed to challenge and improve every aspect of each player’s game. The girls will skate in the morning, have skills and drills in the afternoon, and then play games against other teams in the evening. Each day will end with a team meeting led by the Coaching Staff

What will the campers be doing?

The camp will be divided into four groups and each group will participate in a different set of activities each day. The groups will be determined by a combination of the campers’ age and skill level.

Group 1:
Ages 6-8
This group will participate in drills designed to improve skating skills, stick handling, shooting, and passing. They will also scrimmage daily.

Group 2:
Ages 9-11
This group will participate in all of the activities offered to Group 1. In addition, they will learn basic team concepts such as breakouts, forechecking, and power plays. They will scrimmage daily.

Group 3:
Ages 12-14
This group will participate in all of the activities offered to Groups 1 and 2. In addition, they will be expected to execute more advanced team concepts such as Odd Man rushes and zone defenses. They will scrimmage daily.

Group 4:
Ages 15-18
This group will participate in all of the activities offered to Groups 1, 2, and 3. In addition, they will be expected to demonstrate leadership both on and off the ice. They may also have the opportunity to help coach some of the younger campers.

What should campers bring to the camp?

In order to have a fun and successful camp experience, campers should bring the following items:
-Athletic gear, including skates, a stick, and a helmet
-A water bottle
-Snacks
-Sunscreen
-A change of clothes
-A positive attitude!

The cost of the camp is $250.
