Devin Armani Booker was born on October 30, 1996, in Gary, Indiana, to Veronica Gutiérrez and Melvin Booker. His mother was a professional cheerleader for the Indiana Pacers, while his father played basketball overseas. Booker has two older brothers, Davon and Devin, and a sister, Mya.

Devin Booker was born on October 30, 1996, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Melvin Booker and Veronica Gutiérrez. He has three older brothers, Davon Wade, Dantley Walker Jr., and Tyrell Corbin Jr. His mother Veronica was a former WNBA player and his father Melvin played basketball collegiately at University of Missouri–Kansas City before going on to play professionally overseas. Booker grew up in Moss Point, Mississippi. When he was four years old, his family moved to Grand Rapids so his father could continue his coaching career at Grand Valley State University. Due to financial difficulties, Booker’s parents divorced when he was nine years old and he subsequently went to live with his grandparents.
Booker started playing organized basketball when he was nine years old for the Grand Rapids Storm of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). As a fifth grader, he won a state championship with the Storm. In middle school, he played for theGrand Rapids Christian Middle School team that won two league championships and one state championship. In 2010, Booker’s grades suffered due to him attending several different schools; as a result, he did not play AAU basketball that year. That summer, he worked hard to improve his grades so that he could play AAU the following year. When Booker was in eighth grade, his grandmother died and he stopped playing basketball for two years out of respect for her passing.
Devin Booker’s NBA Career
Devin Booker was drafted into the NBA by the Phoenix Suns in 2015. He is currently in his fourth season with the Suns. In his rookie season, he was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team. He has also been selected to play in the NBA All-Star game twice, in 2018 and 2019.
Booker’s rookie season
The 2015–16 season was Booker’s rookie season in the NBA. He was selected with the 13th overall pick in the 2015 NBA draft by the Phoenix Suns. Booker averaged 13.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game during his rookie season, shooting 42.3 percent from the field and 34.3 percent from three-point range in 34.6 minutes per game. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team at the end of the season.
Booker’s sophomore season
In his sophomore season, Booker was selected to participate in the Rising Stars Challenge at All-Star Weekend. In the game, he scored 19 points and had six assists, leading the U.S. team to a 155-124 victory over the World Team. Booker was also named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team.
Booker’s junior season
In Booker’s junior season, he averaged 22.1 points, 3.4 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game. He was named to the All-Rookie First Team and was also selected for the Rising Stars Challenge. Booker scored a career-high 70 points in a 130–120 loss to the Boston Celtics on March 24, 2017, becoming the sixth player in NBA history to score at least 70 points in a game, joining Wilt Chamberlain, Kobe Bryant, David Thompson, Elgin Baylor, and David Robinson. On April 11, he was named Western Conference Rookie of the Month for games played in March.
