He was named first-team All-American by Parade magazine.[1] He also competed as a sprinter on Yulee’s track & field team, where he ran personal bests of 11.09 seconds in the 100-meter dash and 22.24 seconds in the 200-meter dash.[2]

Derrick Henry played football for the University of Alabama from 2013 to 2015. In his three years with the Crimson Tide, he rushed for 3,591 yards and 42 touchdowns. He won the Heisman Trophy in 2015, becoming the second Alabama player to do so.
