As a senior quarterback in 2011–12,[10] he led his team to a 16–0 record and a state championship while also passing for 4,619 yards with 50 passing touchdowns.[11] As a freshman shortstop on the Whitehouse baseball team, he batted .390 with 19 stolen bases.[12] In 2012–13 as a sophomore pitcher/infielder he compiled a 6–3 win-loss record on the mound.[13][14][15] He also batted .476 with 36 RBIs.[16] As a junior in 2013–14 playing both pitcher and shortstop he hit .340.[17][18] On May 18, 2014 it was announced that Mahomes had quit baseball to focus on football full-time.[19][20]
