Early Years

Tom Brady was born on August 3, 1977, in San Mateo, California. He attended Junipero Serra High School in San Mateo, where he played football and baseball. In 1995, Brady began attending the University of Michigan, where he played quarterback for the Michigan Wolverines football team. After winning the starting quarterback job in his junior year, Brady led the Wolverines to an undefeated season and a victory in the Orange Bowl. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the game.

College Football

Tom Brady was drafted by the New England Patriots in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL Draft. He played college football at Michigan, where he was a two-time All-American and won the Heisman Trophy in 1999.

Brady began his professional career as the Patriots’ backup quarterback, but took over as the starter in 2001 after an injury to Drew Bledsoe. He helped lead the Patriots to their first Super Bowl appearance that year, which they lost to the underdog St. Louis Rams, and would return to win three more titles over the next four years; becoming the only team ever to do so. With Brady at quarterback, New England also became the first franchise in NFL history to appear in ten Super Bowls, including seven consecutive appearances from 2001–2017.
