The American League of Professional Baseball Clubs, or simply the American League (AL), is one of two leagues that make up Major League Baseball (MLB) in the United States and Canada.

The American League of Professional Baseball Clubs, or simply the American League (AL), is one of two leagues that make up Major League Baseball (MLB) in the United States and Canada. It developed from the Western League, a minor league based in the Great Lakes states, which eventually aspired to major league status. It is sometimes called the Junior Circuit or the Younger League.
The American League East
As of 2021, the American League East consists of the Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays, and Toronto Blue Jays.
The American League Central
The Central Division of the American League (AL) began play in 1994. The five teams in the Central Division are the Chicago White Sox, the Cleveland Indians, the Detroit Tigers, the Kansas City Royals, and the Minnesota Twins.
During interleague play, each team in the AL Central plays against teams in each of the other divisions in both the AL and NL. The teams with the best record in their league at the end of the season advance to the playoffs. In addition, a team from each league that has one of the two best records overall (the Wild Card team) also advances to the playoffs.

The American League West is one of the three divisions of the American League (AL) of Major League Baseball (MLB). This Division was formed for the 1969 season when the AL and National League (NL) realigned into two each. Its counterpart is the National League West. Although its teams currently only reside in the western half of the United States, historically the division has had teams as far east as Chicago and Detroit.

The National League West is a division of the National League in Major League Baseball. The division was created for the 1969 season when the National League expanded to twelve teams by adding the San Diego Padres and the Montreal Expos. It has since been divided into three sub-divisions: the NL West, NL East, and NL Central.
The National League West is made up of eight teams, all of which are located in either the western United States or Canada. The teams in this division are the Arizona Diamondbacks, Colorado Rockies, Los Angeles Dodgers, Miami Marlins, Milwaukee Brewers, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, and San Francisco Giants.
The team with the most titles in this division is the Los Angeles Dodgers who have won it 21 times.
The World Series
The World Series is the annual championship series of Major League Baseball (MLB) in North America, contested since 1903 between the American League (AL) champion team and the National League (NL) champion team. The winner of the World Series championship is determined through a best-of-seven playoff, and the winning team is awarded the Commissioner’s Trophy. As the series is played during the fall season in North America, it is sometimes referred to as the Fall Classic. Prior to 1969, the team with the best regular season win-loss record in each league automatically advanced to the World Series; since then each league has held a championship series (ALCS and NLCS) preceding the World Series to determine which teams will advance.
The American League Champions
The American League Champions are the team who wins the American League Championship Series. The Championship Series is a best-of-seven playoff and is played between the division winners of the American League. The winner of the American League Championship Series goes on to play in the World Series.
There are three divisions in the American League – the East, Central, and West. Each division has five teams. The East Division’s teams are the Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays, and Toronto Blue Jays. The Central Division’s teams are the Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, and Minnesota Twins. The West Division’s teams are the Houston Astros, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Oakland Athletics, Seattle Mariners, and Texas Rangers.
The current American League Champions are the Houston Astros.
The National League Champions
The National League champions are the team that wins the National League pennant. The title has been held by many teams over the years, but the most dominant team in recent memory has been the San Francisco Giants. They have won the World Series three times in the last five years.
