Pre-Season Games
Pre-season games are not included in the 82 game season total. The number of pre-season games played varies from team to team, but each team plays at least four such exhibition contests. These exhibitions help get the players back into “game shape” following the long offseason, and also allow NBA brass to get a look at rookies and new bench players who will round out the regular season roster.
Post-Season Games
An NBA team plays 82 regular season games. If a team qualifies for the playoffs, they will play an additional 14 games.
