How many of those teams have new head coaches?
So far this offseason, seven teams have either fired their head coach or seen him resign. Of those seven, only the Arizona Cardinals have not yet found a replacement. The other six teams are in various stages of the hiring process, but all are expected to have a new head coach in place by the time the NFL Draft rolls around in late April.
Here is a look at the seven teams with new head coaches, and where they stand in the process:
Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals parted ways with head coach Steve Wilks after just one season on the job. They have yet to name a replacement, but they are reportedly zeroing in on former Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury.
Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens announced that John Harbaugh would return for an 11th season as head coach, but they still need to fill their vacant offensive coordinator position. They have been linked to former Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano as a possible candidate.
Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals opted to move on from Marvin Lewis after 16 seasons at the helm. They have already found his replacement in Zac Taylor, who comes over from the Los Angeles Rams where he served as quarterbacks coach.
Cleveland Browns
The Browns made headlines by hiring former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy as their new offensive coordinator. They are still looking for a defensive coordinator, but with McCarthy in place, it appears that they are close to completing their coaching staff for 2019.
How many of those teams have interim head coaches?
There are currently three NFL teams without a head coach, and of those teams, two have interim head coaches. The Green Bay Packers fired Mike McCarthy after a disappointing loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 16. The Cleveland Browns made the decision to fire Hue Jackson after a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 8. The Cincinnati Bengals have yet to name a replacement for Marvin Lewis, who announced his retirement following the team’s Week 16 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
