How Many NFL Teams Do Not Have Cheerleaders?

How many NFL teams do not have cheerleaders? The answer may surprise you.

The teams without cheerleaders

While the Dallas Cowboys are known for their cheerleaders, not every NFL team has them. In fact, there are a few teams who have decided to not have cheerleaders. Here are the teams without cheerleaders and the reasons why they don’t have them.

Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers are the only team in the NFL that does not have cheerleaders. The team has never had cheerleaders, and there are no plans to add them in the future. The Packers are the only major professional sports team in the United States to not have cheerleaders.

Chicago Bears

The Chicago Bears are a professional American football team based in Chicago, Illinois. They are members of the National Football League (NFL) as part of the NFC North division. The Bears have won nine NFL Championships, including one Super Bowl, and hold the NFL record for the most enshrinees in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the most retired jersey numbers. The Bears have also recorded more victories than any other NFL franchise.

Detroit Lions

Though many NFL teams have cheerleaders, the Detroit Lions are one team that does not. The team has stated in the past that they do not believe cheerleaders fit with their brand. The Lions are not alone in this belief, as the Pittsburgh Steelers and Buffalo Bills also do not have cheerleaders.

New York Jets

The New York Jets are a professional American football team based in the New York metropolitan area. The Jets compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team is headquartered in Florham Park, New Jersey. In a unique arrangement for the league, the Jets share MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey with the New York Giants. The franchise is legally and corporately registered as New York Jets, LLC.

The team was founded in 1959 as the Titans of New York, an original member of the American Football League (AFL); later, the franchise joined the NFL in the AFL–NFL merger in 1970. The team began to play in 1960 at the Polo Grounds. Under new ownership, the current name was adopted following the merger of 1962. The team played at Shea Stadium from 1964 to 1983 and then again at Giants Stadium from 1984 to 2009 before moving to MetLife Stadium in 2010. The Jets advanced to the playoffs for the first time in 1968 and went on to compete in Super Bowl III where they defeated the Baltimore Colts, becoming the first AFL team to defeat an NFL club in an AFL–NFL World Championship Game. Since 1968, they have appeared in the playoffs 13 times; however, they have never returned to the Super Bowl and have just two conference championship titles (1968 AFC Champions and 1998 AFC East Champions), both against their fellow AFL East drafting rival, Buffalo Bills who currently maintain a 29–20 lead over them for that record since 1960; despite this head-to-head disadvantage, both teams are tied with 13 post-season appearances apiece through 2017.

The Jets hold a rivalry with their fellow New York NFL franchise Buffalo Bills; both teams compete annually for bragging rights as had been common among AFC East teams prior to realignment that rotated AFC West rivals Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs into playing them only once every four years outside their annual division games since 2001; unlike most other intra-divisional rivalries which usually see one or both opponents winning from year-to-year depending on how each respective team is performing that season relative to their other divisional opponents or even playoff chances depending on what seed they might occupy come December–January, this head-to-head match up has tended to be much more one-sided since it began during divisional realignment starting withBuffalo having won 20 out of 25 games played against them through 2016 including winning 15 out of 17 contests played at Ralph Wilson/New Era Field/Rich Stadium/Rich Products Field/Highmark Stadium; however this trend has started changing more recently with 3 wins by Gang Green over their upstate rivals during Rex Ryan’s tenure as head coach from 2009 thru 2014 along with another win achieved by Todd Bowles’ squad when they upset then defending Super Bowl champion Broncos 26–20 during Week 3 of 2015 en route towards their own 10–6 finish that saw them return to post season play for 1st time since 2010 only be swept aside by eventual champions eventual Super Bowl champions Patriots 28–21 during Wild Card Round held at Gillette Stadium; nonetheless Buffalo currently leads this otherwise even series 58 wins to 53 losses through 2016 which does not include 1 win by Titans during pre-merger AFL days & 4 wins achieved via overtime/shootout which are not reflected within these standings

The teams that used to have cheerleaders

The NFL has had a few teams discontinue their cheerleading squads in recent years. The Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals are two of the most recent teams to cut their cheerleading squads. The Baltimore Ravens never had cheerleaders. So, how many NFL teams do not have cheerleaders?

Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills are a professional American football team based in the Buffalo–Niagara Falls metropolitan area. The Bills compete in the National Football League, as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference East division. The team plays their home games at New Era Field in Orchard Park, New York. The Bills are the only NFL team that does not have cheerleaders.

Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns are a professional American football team in Cleveland, Ohio. The Browns compete in the National Football League as a member club of the American Football Conference North division. The Browns play their home games at FirstEnergy Stadium, which opened in 1999, with administrative offices and training facilities in Berea, Ohio. The Browns’ official colors are brown, orange and white. They are unique among the 32 member franchises of the NFL in that they do not have cheerleaders.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are a professional American football team based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Steelers compete in the National Football League (NFL), as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) North division. Founded in 1933, the Steelers are the oldest franchise in the AFC.

In contrast with their status as perennial Super Bowl contenders, the Steelers have never had cheerleaders. According to Owner Art Rooney II, “We’ve never really had cheerleaders, and I don’t know that we ever will.” In an interview with WDVE in 2016, Rooney was again asked about the possibility of adding cheerleaders and responded by saying “No plans for that.”

The teams that will have cheerleaders in the future

The NFL has had a long tradition of having cheerleaders on the sidelines, but that may be changing in the near future. A recent lawsuit claims that the NFL is paying its cheerleaders below minimum wage, and if that case is successful, it could mean the end of cheerleaders in the NFL. That would be a big change for the league, and it’s something that fans will have to get used to.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the only team in the NFL without cheerleaders. Although they had cheerleaders in the past, they did away with them in 2006. The team’s decision was based on a number of factors, including cost and the desire to keep focus on the game.

Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams are one of the teams that will have cheerleaders in the future. The Rams announced in March that they would be adding a squad of cheerleaders for the 2018 season.

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens will not have cheerleaders in the future. This is because the team has decided to disband their cheerleading squad.

Why some teams do not have cheerleaders

The reason some NFL teams do not have cheerleaders is because they feel that cheerleaders are not needed or they are not worth the money. Some teams feel that having cheerleaders does not help them win games and it is a waste of money. Other teams feel that cheerleaders are a distraction to the players and they do not want them on the sidelines.

Cost

It costs a lot of money to have a cheerleading squad. Not only do you have to pay the salaries of the cheerleaders, but you also have to pay for their uniforms, transportation, and other expenses. For many NFL teams, it simply doesn’t make financial sense to have a cheerleading squad.

Another reason why some NFL teams do not have cheerleaders is because they believe that cheerleading is not relevant to the game of football. These teams believe that the time and resources spent on cheerleading could be better spent on other things, such as player development or marketing.

Finally, some people believe that NFL cheerleaders are not good role models for young girls. There has been a lot of criticism of the way that some NFL teams treat their cheerleaders, and there are concerns about the sexualization of cheerleaders in general. For these reasons, some people think that it would be better if NFL teams did not have cheerleaders at all.

Lack of interest

The main reason cited for the lack of interest in having cheerleaders is that they are not seen as a valuable investment. For example, the Los Angeles Rams had cheerleaders from 1987 to 1994 but then discontinued the program due to what was seen as a lack of interest from both fans and team management. Cheerleaders are also seen as a potential liability, as there have been several lawsuits filed by former NFL cheerleaders allegingemployment law violations.
