Early life and career
Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, better known by his stage name NBA Youngboy, is an American rapper from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is considered one of the most promising up-and-coming rappers in hip hop.NBA Youngboy first started making music in 2014, when he released his debut mixtape, Life Before Fame. The mixtape was well-received by fans and critics alike, and helped to put him on the map as a rising talent in the hip hop world.
Since then, NBA Youngboy has released several more mixtapes and albums, including his most recent project, Realer, which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart. To date, NBA Youngboy has released four studio albums, all of which have reached number one on the US Billboard 200 chart. In addition to his solo success, he has also collaborated with a number of other artists, including Birdman and Lil Wayne.
Commercial breakthrough
In 2017, he released the mixtapes AI Youngboy and Before I Go: Reallionaire, the latter of which peaked at number 19 on the US Billboard 200. On October 6, 2017, he released his commercial debut single, “Untouchable”, which debuted and peaked at number 79 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was later certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). He also released the singles “Outside Today” and “Drawing Symbols”, with the former peaking at number 51 on the Hot 100.
