At 3:55 p.m. on October 9, 2016, 19-year-old NBA Youngboy was in a SUV with his girlfriend and her child outside of a hotel in New Orleans when another vehicle pulled up and opened fire. Youngboy was hit four times—twice in the head—and rushed to the hospital in critical condition. His girlfriend, who was grazed by a bullet, drove him to the hospital. Youngboy survived but the shooting took a devastating toll: he is now legally blind in his right eye and has permanent nerve damage that has left him unable to fully open that eyelid.
