It is a commonly accepted fact that winning an NBA championship is the ultimate goal for any team that steps on the court. But, believe it or not, not every team has been able to win a championship in the league’s history. In fact, there are currently 14 teams that have never won an NBA championship.
So, which teams have never won an NBA championship? The Charlotte Hornets, Memphis Grizzlies, Indiana Pacers, Los Angeles Clippers, Minnesota Timberwolves, New Orleans Pelicans, Oklahoma City Thunder, Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, Portland Trail Blazers, Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs, Utah Jazz and Washington Wizards all currently have 0 championships to their names.
Interestingly enough, 6 of those 14 teams (the Hornets, Grizzlies, Pelicans, Suns, Blazers and Jazz) have never even made it to the NBA Finals. So for those franchises, winning a championship is truly a pipe dream at this point. The Thunder (formerly the Seattle SuperSonics) are also worth mentioning – they made it to the Finals in 1979 but lost to the Bullets/Wizards in 7 games. They haven’t been back since but they certainly have a strong team that could make a run in the coming years.
