How Many Undefeated Teams Are Left In The NFL?

As the NFL season enters its final stretch, there are still a handful of teams with perfect records. Here’s a look at the undefeated squads and their chances of making a run at the Lombardi Trophy.

How Many Undefeated Teams Are Left In The NFL?

The New England Patriots

The New England Patriots are the last undefeated team in the NFL. They have a record of 9-0 and are looking like the team to beat this year. The Patriots have a strong offense led by QB Tom Brady and a stingy defense that has been shutting down opponents. With only a few weeks left in the regular season, it looks like the Patriots are poised to make a run at the Super Bowl.

The New England Patriots’ Record

The New England Patriots are an American football team based in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The Patriots compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s American Football Conference (AFC) East division. The team plays its home games at Gillette Stadium, in the town of Foxborough. The Patriots are also headquartered at Gillette Stadium.

The franchise was founded in 1959 as the Boston Patriots, and joined the AFL in 1960 as a charter member and began play in that league in 1960. The team then changed its name after relocating to Foxborough in 1971, though it changed its geographic name only to “New England” three years later. The Patriots played their home games at Fenway Park from 1971 to 2001, then moved to Gillette Stadium beginning with the 2002 season. They have appeared in ten Super Bowls winning seven of them, most recently defeating the Los Angeles Rams in Super Bowl LIII for the 2018 season.

The New England Patriots’ Schedule

The New England Patriots are one of the NFL’s most successful teams, and they’ve shown no signs of slowing down. They’re currently 9-0, and they’re favored to win every game on their schedule. Let’s take a look at their remaining games and see if they can finish the season undefeated.

The Patriots’ remaining opponents are:

– Buffalo Bills (7-2)
– Miami Dolphins (5-4)
– Philadelphia Eagles (5-4)
– Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2)
– New York Jets (3-6)
– San Francisco 49ers (9-1)

Out of these remaining opponents, the Bills and Steelers are the only teams with a winning record. The Patriots have already beaten the Dolphins and Jets this season, so they should have no problem winning those games. The Eagles are struggling this season, so the Patriots should be able to beat them as well. The only remaining obstacle in the Patriots’ quest for an undefeated season is the 49ers, who are also undefeated. This will be a tough game, but if any team can beat them, it’s the Patriots.

The New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints are the only undefeated team left in the NFL. They are currently 9-0 and are looking like the team to beat this year. They have a great offense led by quarterback Drew Brees and a solid defense. The Saints have a tough schedule the rest of the way, but if they can keep winning, they will have a chance to win the Super Bowl.

The New Orleans Saints’ Record

The New Orleans Saints are a professional American football team based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Saints currently compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) South division.

The Saints were founded by John W. Mecom, Jr., David Dixon, and the city of New Orleans on November 1, 1966. The team played their home games at Tulane Stadium through the 1974 NFL season. The following year, they moved to the new Louisiana Superdome (now Mercedes-Benz Superdome). For most of their first 20 years, the Saints were barely competitive, only posting three winning seasons and two playoff appearances. In 1987, they finished 12–3—their first-ever winning season—and qualified for the NFL playoffs for the first time in franchise history. Then, in what was an implausible and stunning turnaround, they finished 13–3 in 1988—back-to-back winning seasons for the first time ever—and became the first team ever to return to the playoffs after such a long drought. They qualified again in 1992 and scored their only playoff win since arriving in New Orleans when used a 21–20 defeat of defending NFC Champion Atlanta Falcons on December 27, 1992.[8] However, they fell victim to one of sports’ most infamous postseason upsets when Brett Favre’s 60-yard touchdown pass to AndreRison with under two minutes remaining gave Green Bay a 28–27 win.[9][10] Despite these early successes and having acquired future Hall of Famer Deuce McAllister from Ole Miss during 1999 NFL Draft with their first pick,[11] they failed to make returns to post-season play while MCallister was on their squad till his departure after 2005 season following ill-fated knee injuries that eventually led to his forced retirement from playing football altogether by 2010.[12][13] In 2006 meanwhile after much internal strife within front office that included head coach Jim Haslett’s firing 10 games into 2005 season along with resignation/firing of general manager Mickey Loomis who was replaced by young Aaron Kromer during rest of that same 2005 season,[14] organization finally brought in Sean Payton as new head coach[15][16] and Mickey Loomis would subsequently return as Saints’ GM but ceding some personnel control duties this time around to Assistant GM Jeff Ireland who had just come over from Dallas Cowboys where he served as director of college scouting before being let go by then head coach Bill Parcells.[17][18] Under Payton’s leadership and Loomis’ shrewd personnel decisions aided by Ireland,[19][20] assisted also by emergence of young QB Drew Brees brought over from San Diego Chargers after being let go due largely to suffering major arm injury just one year earlier while leading said Chargers towards end of then 2005 NFL season,[21][22] coupled with another key free agent acquisition running back Reggie Bush also coming over from USC via 2006 NFL Draft as 2nd overall pick behind Houston Texans selecting DE Mario Williams 1st overall that same 2006 draft[23], suddenly Saints became contenders once again starting from 2006 onward reaching playoffs 4 times between 2006-2009 seasons inclusive winning NFC South division title 3 times within that span.[24][25]

After missing out on playoffs following 2012 regular season despite posting 10–6 record,[26][27] 2013 season saw them back in post-season play defeating Philadelphia Eagles 26–24 in Wild Card playoff game on January 4, 2014 thanks largely to last second chip shot FG kicked by then newly signed Shayne Graham who had replaced struggling Garrett Hartley earlier that same 2013 regular season.[28][29] This was followed up next week however with them losing at Seattle Seahawks 23-15 on January 11th thus ending their 2013 campaign short of making it all way to Super Bowl XLVIII taking place 2 weeks later.[30][31].
