As a juniorstarter on Hancock North Central’s 12–1 team during the 1984 regular season despite playing with an ankle injury suffered during the second game of the year that sidelined him periodically over the course of the following few weeks while splitting time with back-up quarterback Stan Humphries who transferred to Richmond Hill High School after that school year ended ,Favre passed for 3 ,893 yards and 44 touchdowns while rushing 254 yards And scored three touchdowns with only nine interceptions as Hancock North Central defeated Purvis High School 40-13 in the state Class 3A championship game .

Brett Favre played college football for the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) from 1987 to 1990. He was a quarterback for the USM Golden Eagles for three years and led the team to victory in the 1989 Independence Bowl.
