In 2005, Sean’s second season in the NFL, he was again selected as a starter at free safety. He recorded 79 tackles and two interceptions in sixteen games. His 79 tackles were fourth most on the team.
The 2006 NFL season was arguably Sean’s best season as a professional football player. In fourteen games, he recorded 108 tackles (fifth most on the team), five interceptions (second most on the team), one forced fumble, and one touchdown.
Named to the NFC Pro Bowl team
In just his second NFL season, Sean was named to the NFC Pro Bowl team. He was the first Redskins safety to be chosen for the Pro Bowl since Mark Murphy in 1983, and he was also named a second-team All-Pro by the Associated Press. Sean continued to impress in 2006, his third NFL season.

Two men have been charged with felony murder in the 2007 shooting death of NFL player Sean Taylor during a botched robbery attempt at his Miami home, police said Thursday.
Taylor, a 24-year-old free safety for the Washington Redskins, was shot in the leg Nov. 26, 2007, during what police said was a burglary gone awry. He died the next day.
Miami-Dade Police did not release the names of the two men charged Thursday, but they said one of them was already in custody on unrelated charges and that an arrest warrant had been issued for the other. Police held a news conference to announce the charges but did not take questions.
“`Both suspects will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle said in a statement released by police.
Police have said previously that five men were involved in the plot to burglarize Taylor’s home, but they have not said why they believe Taylor was shot. Authorities have also not disclosed a possible motive for the break-in.
Taylor played three seasons for the Redskins after being drafted out of the University of Miami in 2004. He was selected for the Pro Bowl in 2006 after leading the NFL with eight interceptions.
