In NBA 2K22, you will be able to choose from a total of 30 NBA teams when it comes to setting up your MyLEAGUE and MyGM game modes. You can also edit each team’s name, city, arena, and even court design. But one thing you can’t do is change a team’s affiliation. Here’s how affiliations work in NBA 2K22, and why you can’t change them.

Prior to the start of each season in NBA 2K22’s MyLEAGUE and MyGM modes, you will be given the option to realign the NBA’s 30 teams into six different divisions (five divisions of five teams, and one division of four teams). There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to realignment, but the game will try to place teams in divisions based on their geographical location.

For example, the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers will always be placed in the same division, as will the Chicago Bulls and Indiana Pacers. The game will also try to keep rivalries intact, so the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers will always be in the same division as well.

Once you have chosen your divisions, you will then be able to choose each team’s affiliation. There are three different affiliations to choose from for each team: Topspin (default), Signature, and Aggressive.

Topspin is the default affiliation for all teams, and won’t have any adverse effects on your team or players. Signature affiliations give your players +5 Hype when they perform well in games, while Aggressive affiliations give your players +5 Intensity when they’re playing well.

You can only choose one affiliation per team, so you’ll need to decide which one best suits your playstyle. You also can’t change a team’s affiliation once you’ve chosen it, so make sure you’re happy with your decision before confirmi

Select the “Confirm” option.

Once you’ve selected your desired affiliation, you’ll be taken to a new screen asking you to confirm your decision. If you’re happy with the team you’ve chosen, simply select the “Confirm” button in the lower right-hand corner.
