How To Cut Tennis Balls For Walker

If you have a walker and you’re looking for a way to make it more comfortable, you may want to consider cutting a tennis ball in half and attaching it to the front legs of the walker.

Materials

You will need a sharp knife to cut the tennis balls. A serrated bread knife works well, but you can use any sharp knife. It is also helpful to have a cutting board that is the same size as the tennis balls. This will help to keep the balls from rolling around while you are cutting them.

1 tennis ball

You will need a knife to cut the tennis ball. A serrated knife works best, but any sharp knife will do. You will also need a cutting board or other surface to protect your countertop or table.

1 sharp knife

1. Using a sharp knife, make a cut around the circumference of the tennis ball, about 1-2 inches from the top. Be careful not to cut yourself!
2. Carefully remove the top half of the tennis ball.
3. Push the knife into the center of the tennis ball and make another cut around the circumference, about 1 inch from the bottom.
4. Remove the bottom half of the tennis ball.
5. You should now have two halves of a tennis ball.

Instructions

Supplies needed: 1 unopened can of tennis balls, sharp kitchen knife. Open the can of tennis balls and holding the can steady with one hand, use the other hand to cut each ball in half with a sharp kitchen knife. Be sure to cut through the center of the ball so that each half is of equal size. If the balls are not cut evenly, they will not fit properly into the walker and will cause it to wobble.

Cut a small hole in the tennis ball

Cut a small hole in the tennis ball. You will need a sharp knife for this. The hole should be large enough to fit snugly over the end of the walker’s leg.

Repeat this step for the other tennis ball.

Cut a larger hole in the tennis ball

1. Position the tennis ball so that the center of the hole is at the top. Use a pen or marker to trace a line around the circumference of the tennis ball, dividing it into quarters.

2. Measure 1 inch from the center of the hole and mark this point with your pen or marker.

3. Using a sharp knife, cut along the line you drew in Step 1, stopping at the point you marked in Step 2. Do not cut all the way through the tennis ball.

4. Repeat Steps 1-3 with the second tennis ball.

Put the tennis ball on the walker

With the tennis ball on the walker, start at one end of the cut line and use a sharp knife to slowly cut through the ball. It’s important to go slowly and make sure that you’re following the line as closely as possible. If you veer off, it will be difficult to keep the cut straight.

Once you’ve cut through the first layer of the ball, continue around the rest of the circumference until you’ve made your way all the way around. You should now have a nice, clean cut line all the way around the ball.
