How to Doctor a Baseball?

Materials

Two part Epoxy, JB Weld or similar product. Aluminum foil. Sandpaper- 400 grit. Sponge. acetone. Thin Glove.

Baseball

A baseball is a ball used in the sport of the same name. The baseball is difficult to grip because of its smooth, rounded surface. It is 9.0-9.25 inches (229-235 mm) in circumference (2.86-2.94 inches or 73-75 mm in diameter), with a weight of 5 ounces (140 grams). It is covered with leather and has 216 red stitching.

Superglue

Superglue is one type of glue that can be used to doctor a baseball. This glue dries quickly and can be used to fix small tears in the leather. Superglue can also be used to add weight to a baseball by filling in the inside of the ball with the glue.

Cork

Materials-
Cork is the most popular material currently used to doctor baseballs. It is primarily used by pitchers to give the ball additional weight, which can make it harder to hit. Pitchers can also use cork to change the aerodynamics of the ball, making it curve more or break less.

Knife

The knife is the most important tool in baseball. It can be used to cut the leather, repair the stitching, and even sharpen the metal spikes on the cleats. It is also used to make sure the baseball is exactly the right size and shape.

Steps

Baseballs get doctored all the time. It isn’t as cheating as it sounds though. A little doctoring can make a huge difference in the game. The process is pretty simple and only requires a few materials. Let’s get started.

Remove the baseball’s stitches with the knife.

First, you will need to remove the baseball’s stitches with the knife. Be very careful not to cut yourself. Next, you will need to cut a small hole in the baseball. Again, be very careful not to cut yourself. Finally, you will need to put the medicine in the small hole and then stitch the hole back up.

Apply a layer of superglue around the circumference of the baseball.

1. Apply a layer of superglue around the circumference of the baseball.
2. be sure to put plenty of glue on so that it seeps into the stitches.
3. Allow the glue to dry for 24 hours.
4. Once the glue is dry, you can re-inflate the baseball and start using it again!

Place the cork inside the baseball.

Seams of a baseball are raised, and you want the cork to sit as flush with the surface of the ball as possible. This will give the ball more stability when you throw it, and make it less likely to wobble. The cork should fit snugly inside the baseball, so that it doesn’t rattle around.

Allow the superglue to dry.

Allow the superglue to dry. Once it is tacky, apply a thin layer of glue to the raised stitches. Cover the entire area and allow it to dry for 24 hours.

Replace the baseball’s stitches.

Tools
-Scissors
-Needle
-Thread
-Twine

Instructions
1. Cut the old thread out of the baseball using scissors. Do not cut too close to the leather, as this may cause the leather to tear. Cut all of the way around the baseball, following the old stitches.
2. Thread a needle with new thread. Start at any point on the baseball, and stitch through the leather following the path of the old stitches. Make sure that your stitches are even and tight.
3. Tie off the thread when you reach the point where you started. Trim any excess thread, but make sure to leave a length of about 6 inches (15 cm).
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 with twine on all of the remaining panels of the baseball
