Introduction

Army Esports exists to improve readiness and increase engagement with the Army through esports. Esports is a form of competition that is facilitated by electronic systems, particularly video games. The term “esports” covers a wide range of video game genres and activities.

Army Esports facilitates and supports designated esports activities in order to promote Soldier readiness, build Soldier skills, and support Army recruiting. In order to join the Army Esports Team, potential members must meet the following requirements:

Basic Requirements

To join the Army Esports Team, you must be a serving soldier in the United States Army. You must also be between the ranks of E-4 and E-9. You will also need to have a high score in the Army Combat Fitness Test and be able to complete a 12-mile ruck march within three hours.

You must be between the ages of 17 and 34 to enlist in the Army, though you can apply to join the team at any age.

US citizenship

All applicants for the Army Esports Team must be United States citizens.

All applicants must first meet the Army’s basic physical requirements. These requirements vary depending on your age and gender, but all applicants must be in excellent physical condition and without any serious health conditions.

Army National Guard

The Army National Guard (ARNG) is a branch of the United States Army, composed of Citizen-Soldiers who serve both in their home communities and full-time jobs. The ARNG e-Sports team is open to any ARNG Soldier who meets the eligibility requirements and is interested in representing the Army National Guard in online gaming competitions.

To join the ARNG e-Sports team, you must first meet the eligibility requirements:
-You must be a currently enlisted Soldier in the Army National Guard
-You must be in good standing with your unit
-You must have a current Gamer License for the game you wish to compete in
-You must be able to attend practices and competitions as scheduled

Once your application has been received, a member of the ARNG e-Sports team will reach out to you to schedule an interview. The interview is an opportunity for us to get to know you and for you to ask any questions you may have about being on the team.

Active Duty

If you are currently serving on active duty, you can apply to join the Army Esports team through the Army’s Best Warrior Competition. The Best Warrior Competition is an annual event that recognizes soldiers who exemplify the Army Values. To be eligible to compete, soldiers must first compete in and win their unit-level Best Warrior Competition. From there, they will advance to the next level of competition, which is the Army-wide Best Warrior Competition. The winners of the Army-wide competition will be selected for the Army Esports team.
