Starting a Fight
Starting a fight in NHL 18 can actually be pretty simple once you know how to do it. All you need to do is skate up to an opponent and press the button prompt that appears on screen. Alternatively, you can also just hit the “drop gloves” button on your controller.
Choose your fighter
In NHL 18, you can choose from a roster of over 900 real-world hockey players. That includes every player from all 31 NHL teams, as well as marquee stars from several different leagues, including the CHL, European Leagues, and even the Winter Olympics.
Get in close to your opponent
The key to starting a fight in NHL 18 is to get in close to your opponent. You can do this by skating towards them or by checking them into the boards. Once you are close enough, press and hold the LT/L2 button on your controller. This will cause your player to grab their opponent.
In NHL 18, there are two ways to start a fight. The first is to simply hit the “fight” button when you’re on the ice. This will cause your player to drop his gloves and go after the nearest opponent. The second way to start a fight is to hit “hit” when you’re near an opponent and then quickly hit “fight” once the player starts throwing punches.
During the Fight
As you move closer to an opponent, you’ll see a white box appear over their shoulder. Press and hold the LT/L2 button to ready a punch, and release to throw it. While you have the LT/L2 button held, you can also use the right analog stick to aim your punches.
Use the right stick to throw punches
In NHL 18, you can use the right stick to throw punches at your opponents. To do this, simply hold down the right stick and press the attack button. You will then throw a punch in the direction that you are holding the right stick.
Use the left stick to dodge and block punches
When you’re in a fight, use the left stick to dodge and block punches. You can also hold down the left stick to tuck your head and avoid punches. While holding the left stick, you can also press the X button to throw a punch.
In NHL 18, you can use the face buttons to perform different special moves. To do a deke, double tap the left stick in any direction. You can also hold down the left stick to protect the puck and keep opponents away.
To hit, press RB/R1. You can also hold down RT/R2 to deliver a big hit that will seriously damage your opponent and give you a chance to knock them down.
Pressing LT/L2 will give you a speed boost that can help you get away from defenders or catch up to an opponent. You can also use this boost to jump over players who are trying to block your shot.
After the Fight
You just got into a fight during an NHL 18 game. Now what? You can choose to either fight again or not. If you do fight, you’ll want to make sure that you’re aware of the consequences. Fighting in NHL 18 can lead to injuries, fines, and suspensions.
