Lacing your shoes
Have you ever wondered how to tie your shoes the right way? There are a lot of different ways that you can do it, but the most popular way is by lacing your shoes. This method is very simple and it only takes a few minutes to do.
Start with the shoe on the wrong foot
It may sound counterintuitive, but to get the neatest possible bow, you should start with the shoe on the wrong foot. This gives you a longer “tail” to work with, which in turn makes it easier to get a tight knot.
1. Start with the shoe on the wrong foot. Cross one side of the Aces over the top of the other, about a shoelace-width from the tongue of the shoe.
2. Take hold of the end of the “over” lace and place it over the “under” lace. Now poke it underneath, so it pops up on the other side.
3. Pull both laces tight and hold in place. You’ve now made a loops — or “bunny ear” — with each lace.
4. Take hold of one bunny ear and make a small loop, or overhand knot, close to the end. This will prevent the lace from coming undone later on.
5. Do the same thing with the other bunny ear lace and pull both knots tight against the shoe.
Cross the laces in the middle
Before you start, make sure the laces are of even length. Cross one lace over the the other in the middle, about a foot from the shoe’s tongue. Take the end of the “over” lace and put it over the “under” lace, then poke it underneath. Now pull tight. The cross should now be close to the shoe’s tongue.
Take the laces around the back
1.Thread one lace under the other, around the back of the shoe. Cross the laces in front, and then thread them both under the tongue flap.
2.pull the laces tight and tie a basic knot. Take one lace in each hand, andpull until the knot is snug against the shoe. Don’t pull too tight — you don’t want to make the shoe uncomfortable.
3.Make a “bunny ear” loop with one of the laces, holding it between your thumb and first 2 fingers. Make the same loop with the other lace.
4.”Cross” the middle of one loop over the other, and then tuck it underneath. You should now have 2 loops, each with a long “tail” hanging down.
5.”Tie” each loop together by placing one over the other, tucking it behind, and then pulling through the hole that’s created.pull on both loops until the knot is snug against your shoe. Trim any excess lace, and you’re done!
Pull the laces tight and tie a knot in the middle
Tying your shoes may seem like a mindless task that you’ve been doing since you were a child. But if you’re not doing it the right way, you could be putting yourself at risk for foot pain, blisters, and even falls.
The right way to tie your shoes starts with the laces. Make sure to pull the laces tight and tie a knot in the middle. This will help secure the shoe to your foot and prevent the tongue from slipping.
Next, take the left lace and make a small loop, or “bunny ear.” Do the same with the right lace. Now cross the bunny ears over the middle of the shoe, tucking one under the other. Take the top bunny ear and pull it over the bottom bunny ear, then tuck it underneath. Pull tight and tie a knot at the end.
This may seem like a lot of steps, but taking a few extra seconds to tie your shoes correctly can save you from a lot of pain down the road.
Tying the loops
When you’re tying your shoes, you want to make sure you’re doing it the right way. There are a few different ways to tie your loops, and it all depends on how you want them to look. If you’re going for a more traditional look, you can tie the loops in a simple knot.
Make a loop with one of the laces
With one of the laces, make a small loop near the end, holding it between your thumb and first 2 fingers. This loop will be the beginning of your knot, so make sure it’s not too big or too small.
Take the other lace and put it over the top of the loop
With the shoe still on your foot, take the other lace and put it over the top of the loop. Now poke it underneath the loop, and then pull it up and through the hole. You should now have a loop on one side, and a lace on the other.
Put your finger inside the loop
Put your finger inside the loop, then poke it through the hole.
Pull the lace through the loop
To tie your shoes, start by threading the lace through the eyelet on the side of the shoe closest to your little toe. Then, pull the lace around the back of the shoe and thread it through the eyelet on the other side. Next, take the lace and make a small loop, or “bunny ear.” After that, do the same thing with the other lace. Finally, tie each loop together by placing one over the other, tucking it behind, and pulling it through the hole created.
Put your finger inside the new loop
1. Lace up your shoe until the laces are at the top, with the laces equal on both sides.
2. Take the left lace and make a small loop, or “bunny ear.” This “bunny ear” should have a long tail.
3. Make the same loop with the right lace. Now you should have two loops that look like bunny ears, each with a long tail.
4. Put your finger inside the new loop you made with the left lace (the one closest to you).
5. Take hold of the long tail of the right lace (the one farthest away from you) and put it over the top of the left loop. Now poke it underneath that loop.
6. Hold on to both tails and pull tight. You’ve now tied the loops in a knot!
Pull the lace through the loop
Pull the lace through the loop, making sure that the loop is positioned on top of the lace. The loop should now be facing downwards.
Repeat steps 2.5-2.6 until you have a knot in the middle
2.5 Take the left laces and hold them in your left hand. Take the right laces and hold them in your right hand.
2.6 Cross the laces over the top of the shoe and tie them together once, making sure that the laces are tight against the shoe.
Tying the loops (alternative method)
An alternative method to tie your loops is to start with the shoe on the wrong foot. Take the left shoelace in your left hand and the right shoelace in your right hand. Cross the laces over the top of the shoe and tie them together once, making sure it’s tight against the shoe. Take the left lace and make a small loop, or “bunny ear.” Do the same with the right lace.
Make a loop with one of the laces
Tying your shoes may seem like a simple task, but if you’ve ever tried to tie a pair of shoes that are too small or have laces that are too short, you know it can be a real challenge. The good news is that there is an alternative method for tying your shoes that can make the process easier.
To tie your shoes using the alternative method, start by making a loop with one of the laces. Then, take the other lace and thread it through the loop. Pull the lace tight and tie a knot to secure it in place. Repeat on the other side and you’re done!
Take the other lace and put it over the top of the loop
Now take the other lace and put it over the top of the loop. You want to make sure that you tighten this one as well, so pull it towards you as you go over the top. Now put your finger inside of the hole that’s been created and pull towards you. You should have two loops now.
Cross the laces in the middle
Cross the laces in the middle, making an “X”. Now, take the left lace and put it over the right lace. Take the right lace and put it over the left lace. Now you should have two loops on each side.
Take the laces around the back
Thread the laces around the back of the shoe and bring them up to the front on either side of the tongue. The laces should now be in opposite columns on either side of the tongue.
Pull the laces tight and tie a knot in the middle
You know how to tie your shoes, but are you tying them the right way? According to podiatrists, there’s a specific way to tie shoe laces that can help prevent foot pain and blisters.
The next time you go to tie your sneakers, try this alternative method:
1. Cross one lace over the the other lace halfway up the laces.
2. Take the end of the “over” lace and put it over the “under” lace. Now poke it underneath the “under” lace.
3. Hold on to the ends of both laces and pull tight. The cross should now be close to the shoe.
4. Take the “over” lace and make a small loop, or ‘bunny ear’. This “over” bunny ear should have a long tail.
5. Make the same loop with the “under” lace and cross the middle of the “over” bunny ear with the “under” bunny ear.
6. Take the top of the “under” bunny ear and put it over the “over” bunny ear. Now poke it through the hole.
7. Put your fingers inside the ends of both bunny ears, then hold on and pull tight until you have a knot in between both loops.”
