How to Watch Cardinals Baseball Without Cable

Looking to catch Cardinals baseball without cable? Here’s a guide on how to do just that.

How to Watch Cardinals Baseball Without Cable

Introduction

It’s time for baseball! The Cardinals are back in action and you want to watch them without having to pay for an expensive cable TV package. Luckily, there are a few ways you can do this.

First, you can sign up for a live TV streaming service like AT&T TV Now, Hulu + Live TV, or Sling TV. These services all carry Fox Sports Midwest, which is the channel that broadcasts Cardinals games in the St. Louis area.

You can also try using an antenna to pick up Fox Sports Midwest if you live within range of the station’s signal. Finally, if you’re away from home and can’t get any of these other options to work, you can always listen to the radio broadcast of the game on AM 570 WGN.

No matter how you choose to watch, we hope you enjoy cheering on the Cardinals this season!

MLB.tv

MLB.tv is the best way to watch Cardinals baseball without cable. With MLB.tv, you can choose to watch either the home or away broadcast of every Cardinals game, and you can also watch on-demand archives of all games. MLB.tv also provides a free trial so that you can try it before you commit to a subscription.

Local and national television broadcasts

If you live in the St. Louis area, all Cardinals games are televised on Fox Sports Midwest. If you don’t live in the Midwest, almost every single game is still available to you through MLB.tv.

MLB.tv is a streaming service offered by Major League Baseball that lets you watch every out-of-market game live or on demand on your computer, smartphone, tablet, gaming consoles and other connected devices. It costs $24.99/month or $109.99/year for a single team subscription or $84.99/year for an all-team subscription, which gives you access to every live out-of-market game across all 30 teams.

If you want to watch Cardinals games that are televised nationally on networks like ESPN, TBS or Fox Sports 1 (FS1), you’ll need to sign up for a live TV streaming service that offers those channels in your “package” of networks. Here are a few of the best options:

Sling TV: Sling TV is one of the most popular and affordable live TV streaming services on the market (it’s also one of my personal favorites). You can get Fox Sports Midwest as part of its $25/month “Sling Blue” package or get both FS Midwest and FS1 as part of its slightly more expensive “Blue + Orange” package for $40/month. You can also add FS1 with an extra Sports Extra package for an additional $5/month; ESPN with its $5/month Sports Extra add-on; and MLB Network with an extra $10/month “Multi-Sport Pack.”

DirecTV Now: DirecTV Now’s smallest “Live a Little” package includes FS1 and FS Midwest and costs $40/month while its larger packages cost upwards of $75+/month after a recent price increase across all tiers of service (designed to help offset the cost of higher carriage fees for channels). You can also add MLB Network to any DirecTV Now package for an additional $5–10/month depending on which other channels are in your package.

Hulu with Live TV: Hulu with Live TV is one of the newer live TV streaming services but it’s quickly become one of my favorites due to its low price ($40/month after a recent price increase), diverse channel selection and included access to Hulu’s massive streaming library (which includes most current seasons of many popular programming). You’ll get FS1 and FS Midwest as part of its starting lineup while ESPN requires an upgrade to Hulu’s more expensive “Unlimited Screens” option for an additional $15/month (totaling $55/month). You can also tack on MLB Network as part of Hulu’s “Sports Extra” add-on pack for another $10–14 per month depending on which other channels are included in your base Hulu plan (totaling up to between $50–64 per month depending on which route you go).

Antenna

If you’re looking for a way to watch Cardinals baseball without cable, you have a few different options. You could sign up for a streaming service like Sling TV or AT&T TV NOW, or you could use an antenna to watch over-the-air broadcasts.

Using an antenna is by far the cheapest way to watch Cardinals baseball games. All you need is a digital antenna and a compatible TV, and you’ll be able to pick up most of the local channels that carry Cardinals games.

If you live close to St. Louis, you should be able to get all the channels that carry Cardinals games with a basic indoor antenna. However, if you live farther away, you may need a more powerful antenna, like an outdoor model.

Once you have your antenna set up, just tune in to the appropriate channel on game day and start watching. You can also use an eligible DVR to record games and watch them later at your convenience.

Conclusion

There are several ways to watch Cardinals baseball without cable. You can use an antenna to get KMOX, which broadcasts most of the team’s games. You can also sign up for a streaming service like AT&T TV Now, which offers a 7-day free trial, or fuboTV, which offers a free 7-day trial. You can also buy MLB.TV, which gives you access to every out-of-market baseball game.
