Is Asuka Coming Back To WWE?

Introduction

Asuka has been one of the most dominant WWE Superstars in recent memory. She was the first-ever women’s NXT Champion and went on to hold the title for a record-breaking 510 days. She then made her way to the main roster, where she won the inaugural women’s Royal Rumble match and went on to become SmackDown Women’s Champion.

However, Asuka’s time in WWE has been plagued by injuries, which have forced her to miss extended periods of time. She underwent surgery in early 2019 to repair a broken collarbone and hasn’t been seen on WWE television since.

This has led to speculation that Asuka may be done with WWE, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet. In fact, there have been recent rumors that Asuka could be making her return to WWE soon.

Asuka’s hiatus

Asuka has been on hiatus from WWE since October, when she lost the Raw Women’s Championship to Becky Lynch at Hell in a Cell.

While it’s not yet known when or if Asuka will return to WWE, Wrestling Observer Radio’s Dave Meltzer speculated on her status during a recent episode.

“I would presume that she’s coming back,” Meltzer said. “She was never not going to come back, it was just a matter of when.”

Meltzer added that Asuka is “one of those people that they don’t want to bring back until they absolutely have to,” as she is a “drawing card” and “a big part of their future.”

Asuka’s return

Asuka has not been seen in WWE since she was drafted to Monday Night Raw in the 2019 WWE Draft.

The last time we saw Asuka was at the 2020 Royal Rumble, where she entered at number 28 and lasted almost half an hour before being eliminated by Shayna Baszler.

Since then, Asuka has been off TV and has not been used much on WWE programming.

However, there have been recent reports that Asuka may be making her return to WWE soon.

What’s next for Asuka?

Asuka has been one of the most dominant WWE Superstars in recent memory. She is a former WWE Women’s Champion and NXT Women’s Champion. She is also a former Mae Young Classic winner.

Asuka made her main roster debut in 2018 and was quickly pushed as a top star. She won the inaugural women’s Royal Rumble match and went on to challenge Charlotte Flair for the Smackdown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania 34.

Asuka would lose the match, but she quickly rebounded and won the WWE Women’s Championship from Carmella at Extreme Rules. Asuka held the title for over six months before losing it to Becky Lynch at TLC in December of 2018.

Asuka would then enter into a feud with Lynch and Charlotte Flair, which culminated in a triple threat match at WrestleMania 35, which Lynch won.

Asuka has not been seen on WWE television since her loss at WrestleMania 35. It was reported that she had suffered a broken collarbone, but she has since recovered from her injury.

So what’s next for Asuka? It remains to be seen whether she will return to WWE programming or not.
