Brandon Knight’s NBA Career
Brandon Knight was drafted by the Detroit Pistons in the first round of the 2011 NBA draft. He played for the Pistons for three seasons before being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in 2013. He played for the Bucks for two seasons before being traded to the Houston Rockets in 2015. He was then traded to the Phoenix Suns in 2016 and has been with the Suns ever since.
Brandon Knight’s rookie season
Brandon Knight was drafted by the Detroit Pistons as the eighth overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. He played sparingly as a rookie, appearing in just 49 games and averaging 5.4 points per game. He improved slightly in his second season, appearing in 64 games and averaging 8.0 points per game. However, his playing time decreased in his third season, appearing in just 47 games and averaging 7.6 points per game. After being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks prior to the start of the 2014-15 season, Knight’s career took off. He appeared in 80 games and averaged 17.8 points per game, career-highs in both categories. He followed that up with another strong season, appearing in 76 games and averaging 19.6 points per game. However, injuries limited him to just 11 games in the 2016-17 season. He was traded to the Phoenix Suns prior to the start of the 2017-18 season and averaged 19.6 points per game in 55 games before being traded to the Houston Rockets mid-season. Brandon Knight’s time with the Suns
Brandon Knight was traded to the Suns in 2015, where he became the starting point guard. In his first season with the Suns, Knight averaged 19.6 points, 5.1 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game, and was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team. He continued to be the Suns’ starting point guard for the next two seasons, but his production dropped off significantly. In the 2017-2018 season, Knight only played in 11 games due to an injury, and averaged a career-low 8.0 points per game. He became a free agent after the season, and was not picked up by another team. As of 2019, Brandon Knight is not currently signed with any NBA team.

Houston Rockets (2016–2018)
On July 7, 2016, Knight was traded, along with Tulane center Jarrelle Reischel, to the Houston Rockets in exchange for power forward Marcus Morris, guard Danny Ainge’s son Anonymous and cash considerations.
On February 23, 2017, he scored a career-high 38 points in a 114–106 win over the Brooklyn Nets. Four days later, he was ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering a torn ACL in his left knee.
On October 31, 2017, Knight made his season debut after missing the entire previous season recovering from a torn ACL. He started the Rockets’ first 12 games before being moved to a bench role. On December 11, 2017, in just his ninth game off the bench all season, Knight scored 19 points against his former team, the Suns.

Brandon Knight’s Post-NBA Career
It’s been a few years since Brandon Knight was last in the NBA. After a few years of bouncing around the league, he eventually found himself out of the NBA altogether. So what has he been up to since then?
Brandon Knight’s time in the G League
Brandon Knight was drafted in the first round of the 2011 NBA draft by the Detroit Pistons. He played three seasons for the Pistons before being traded to the Milwaukee Bucks in 2013. He played two seasons for the Bucks before being traded to the Phoenix Suns in 2015. He played one season for the Suns before being traded to the Houston Rockets in 2016. He was then traded back to the Suns in 2017, and he was waived by the Suns in 2018. Knight then signed a contract with the G League’s Erie BayHawks, where he played one game before being called up by the Atlanta Hawks. He was then waived by the Hawks, and he has not played in an NBA game since.
Brandon Knight’s time in Turkey
In August 2019, it was announced that Brandon Knight would be playing for Fenerbahçe of the Turkish Basketball League (TBL) during the 2019–20 season. The news came as something of a surprise, since it had been widely assumed that Knight would attempt to make an NBA comeback after missing almost two full seasons with injuries.
Knight’s time in Turkey got off to a rocky start, as he struggled to regain his previous form and was sideline by various injuries. He was eventually waived by Fenerbahçe in February 2020, after appearing in just 13 games. As of March 2020, Brandon Knight is a free agent and it remains to be seen if he will attempt to continue his career in the NBA or elsewhere.
