Lana in WWE
It has been a while since we have seen Lana in WWE. She was last seen on WWE television on the November 4, 2019 edition of Monday Night Raw. Lana has been absent from WWE programming due to her real-life husband, Rusev, being released from the company in April 2020.
Her role in WWE
Since 2013, CJ “Lana” Perry has been a manageress, wrestler, dancer and singer in WWE. Although her on-screen character is from Moscow, Perry is actually from Virginia. After several years in WWE’s developmental brand NXT, Lana was promoted to the main roster in 2014. She has managed Rusev, Dolph Ziggler and Naomi, as well as being a wrestler in her own right. Lana is a two-time WWE Divas Champion and was the first woman to win the title who wasn’t born in North America.
In recent years, Lana has taken on more of an on-screen role as an authority figure and commentator. She has also ventured into acting, with roles in the films Olympus Has Fallen (2013) and Pitch Perfect 3 (2017).
Her on-screen relationships
On-screen, Lana has been in relationships with Dolph Ziggler, Rusev (whom she married in 2016), and Bobby Lashley. She is currently single. Some of her most high-profile rivalries have been with Carmella, Naomi, and Natalya.
Her feuds and storylines
Since her main roster debut in 2014, Lana has been involved in various feuds and storylines. She was paired with Rusev upon her debut, and the two became a couple on-screen as well as in real life. After breaking up with Rusev, Lana aligned herself with Dolph Ziggler and Bobby Lashely, before returning to Rusev. She then started a feud with SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair, which led to a match between the two at WrestleMania 34, which Flair won. After several more feuds and storylines, Lana left WWE in August 2020.
Lana’s Departure from WWE
Lana has not been seen on WWE programming for a while now and fans are wondering if she is still with the company. Lana is one of the most popular WWE Superstars and has been with WWE since 2013. She is married to Rusev, who is also a WWE Superstar.
Why she left
It was recently revealed that Lana has left WWE. She is no longer with the company as an active wrestler, but she may still make occasional appearances.
Lana’s departure from WWE was first rumored in early 2020, but it wasn’t until May 2020 that her departure was confirmed. The exact reasons for her departure are unknown, but it is believed that she was unhappy with her creative direction and wanted to pursue other opportunities outside of wrestling.
Lana had been with WWE since 2013, and she was one of the most popular wrestlers in the company. She was a five-time Women’s Champion and was also the manager of Rusev, who is also no longer with WWE.
Her departure from WWE will likely be a big blow to the company, as she was one of the most popular women’s wrestlers in recent years. It remains to be seen who will take her place on television, but Lana will surely be missed by fans all over the world.
What she’s doing now
Since leaving WWE, Lana has started a number of new projects. She has launched her own beauty line, called Caviar Beauty, which offers luxury hair and skincare products. She is also working on a new music album, set to be released later this year. In addition to her business ventures, Lana has also been spending time with her family and friends, and enjoying life outside of the wrestling world.
Lana’s Return to WWE
WWE Superstar Lana made her much-anticipated return to WWE television on the October 28, 2019 episode of SmackDown Live. It had been almost a year since Lana was last seen on WWE programming, as she took time off to film a movie.
When she returned
Lana returned to WWE television on the November 27, 2017 episode of SmackDown Live, where she was revealed as Rusev’s new wife. The following week, Lana interrupted Rusev’s United States Championship match against Bobby Roode and distracted him, resulting in Rusev losing the match by disqualification. Two weeks later, Lana defeated Naomi in a singles match. On the December 18 episode of SmackDown Live, after Rusev verbally abused Lana and shoved her to the ground, Lana slapped him and left him.
Her current role in WWE
As of right now, Lana is a part of the Rusev Day tag team, along with her real-life husband Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura. The three of them had a great showing at Extreme Rules, defeating The New Day.
However, Lana’s in-ring career has been pretty much non-existent as of late. She has only wrestled two matches this year, both of which were tag team matches on house shows. Lana’s last televised singles match was back at WrestleMania 34, where she was part of a six-woman Mixed Match Challenge tag team with Rusev.
It’s safe to say that Lana’s focus right now is on her role as Rusev’s manager and on-screen wife. She has been doing a great job in that role and there is no reason to believe that she will be leaving WWE anytime soon.
