Martavis Bryant was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2014. He played college football at Clemson. As a rookie, he caught five touchdown passes, including three in one game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Bryant was suspended for the first four games of the 2015 season for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy. He was reinstated in October and played in nine games, catching 26 passes for 549 yards and eight touchdowns.

Bryant was again suspended by the NFL for the entire 2016 season for violating the substance abuse policy. He applied for reinstatement in 2017, but was denied by the NFL. He then applied again in 2018 and was conditionally reinstated. Bryant was traded to the Oakland Raiders on April 26, 2018.

After much speculation, on the morning of September 1st, 2018, it was announced that Steelers’ wide receiver Martavis Bryant had officially requested a trade from the team.

The 2018 season started off rocky for Bryant, as he only caught 2 passes for 18 yards in the Steelers’ Week 1 loss to the Patriots. After that game, reports surfaced that Bryant was unhappy with his role in the offense and that he had requested a trade.

The Steelers reportedly contacted several teams about a possible trade for Bryant, but no deal was ever made and he remained on the team. However, he was inactive for their Week 2 game against the Chiefs.
