Mikey Williams is a 6’2″ point guard from Los Angeles, California. He is currently ranked as the number one high school basketball player in the class of 2022 by ESPN. He plays for Sierra Canyon School, which is also home to current NBA players Zaire Wade and Bronny James.

Williams has been playing basketball since he was a young child. His father, Mike Williams Sr., played college basketball at Pepperdine University. Williams has always looked up to his father and wanted to follow in his footsteps.

In elementary school, Williams was already showing signs of being a future star. He was taller and more coordinated than other kids his age, and he loved to play basketball. By the time he reached high school, it was clear that he had the potential to be a special player.

As a freshman, Williams averaged 18 points, 7 assists, and 5 rebounds per game. He was named co-MVP of the Gold Coast League, and he helped lead Sierra Canyon to the CIF Southern Section Division I championship game.

Early Life and High School Career

Mikey Williams was born in Los Angeles, California on November 5, 2003. He attended Sierra Canyon High School in chatsworth, California where he played for the school’s basketball team. As a freshman, Williams averaged 21.6 points per game, 5.0 rebounds per game, and 3.2 assists per game. He was subsequently named to the MaxPreps Freshman All-American first team. In his sophomore year, Williams averaged 27.5 points per game, 7.3 rebounds per game, and 4.5 assists per game. He led Sierra Canyon to a 30-3 record and the team won the state championship. Williams was named a consensus first-team All-American and was also named the Naismith Prep Player of the Year.

College Career

Mikey Williams played one season of college basketball for the University of Arizona before declaring for the NBA draft. He was a key member of the team that reached the Elite Eight of the NCAA tournament, averaging 11.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. Williams decided to forgo his final three years of eligibility and enter the NBA draft, where he is projected to be a lottery pick.

Professional Career

In June 2020, Williams declared for the 2020 NBA draft. He went undrafted but was later signed by the Charlotte Hornets to a two-way contract.
