NBA Youngboy’s Criminal History
NBA Youngboy, born Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, is an American rapper from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He is currently signed to Atlantic Records. He released his debut album in 2014, titled Mind of a Menace 3, and his first mixtape in 2015, titled Life Before Fame. Youngboy has been in and out of prison since he was a teenager.
NBA Youngboy’s first arrest
In October 2016, NBA Youngboy was arrested in Tallahassee, Florida, and charged with attempted first-degree murder after he allegedly shot a man nine times. He was released on bond in December 2016.
In February 2017, he was arrested again in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on a warrant for attempted first-degree murder in the October 2016 shooting. He was released on bond again in March 2017.
Then, in May 2017, he was arrested for assault and kidnapping after he allegedly beat and kidnapped his girlfriend. He was released on bond later that month.
NBA Youngboy’s second arrest
On February 12, 2017, NBA Youngboy was arrested in his hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder. The charges stem from a shooting that occurred on November 3, 2016, in which NBA Youngboy and another person allegedly fired shots at a group of people, injuring two.
NBA Youngboy’s third arrest
In March of 2016, Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, better known by his stage name NBA Youngboy, was arrested in Tallahassee, Florida and charged with attempted first degree murder. The charges stemmed from a shooting that took place outside of a Baton Rouge, Louisiana convenience store in October of 2015. NBA Youngboy was implicated in the shooting by phone records and surveillance footage, and was subsequently extradited to Baton Rouge to stand trial.
In May of 2017, NBA Youngboy pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a firearm and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, with credit for time served. He was released on parole in March of 2018.
However, just one month after his release, NBA Youngboy was arrested again in Atlanta, Georgia on drug and gun charges. He was released on bond shortly thereafter.
Then, in October of 2018, NBA Youngboy was arrested for the third time on an outstanding warrant for assault charges stemming from a fight that took place in a Miami hotel room. He is currently awaiting trial.

NBA Youngboy’s first prison sentence
In 2017, NBA Youngboy was sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated assault with a firearm. The charges stemmed from a drive-by shooting that took place in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 2016. Youngboy was released from prison in 2018.
Since his release, Youngboy has been arrested several times on various charges including drug possession, assault, and probation violation. In 2019, he was sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to probation violation. He is currently serving this sentence and is eligible for release in 2022.
NBA Youngboy’s second prison sentence
In March 2016, he was sentenced to two years in prison on charges of robbery, aggravated assault with a firearm, and possession of a stolen firearm. He was released in May 2018.
NBA Youngboy’s third prison sentence
In March 2016, Youngboy was sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of attempted first-degree murder. The sentence was suspended, and he was instead placed on four years of probation.
However, he was arrested again in November 2016 and charged with seven felonies, including two counts of attempted first-degree murder. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
In June 2017, Youngboy was found guilty of one count of aggravated assault with a firearm and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. The sentence was suspended, and he was placed on five years’ probation.
NBA Youngboy violated the terms of his probation in September 2018 and was taken into custody. He remained in jail until March 2019, when he was released on bond.
In May 2019, NBA Youngboy violated the terms of his bond and was taken into custody once again. He is currently awaiting trial on the seven felony charges from 2016.
NBA Youngboy’s Release from Prison
NBA Youngboy was recently released from prison after serving time for a firearms charge. The rapper was sentenced to 10 years in prison, but was released after only 2 years. NBA Youngboy is now a free man and can continue with his career.
NBA Youngboy’s first release from prison
