The odds of making an NFL roster as an undrafted free agent are not very good. In 2019, there were 1,184 players drafted into the NFL. That same year, there were only 86 undrafted rookies who made an opening day roster. That means that less than 8% of all rookies drafted orUndrafted Free Agents make an NFL roster.

Despite the long odds, there are some success stories of players who have made it in the NFL after going undrafted. In 2019, there were 14 players who had been Undrafted Free Agents at some point in their careers selected to play in the Pro Bowl. Those 14 players represent 1% of all Pro Bowlers that year and 6% of all active NFL players.

Some notable Undrafted Free Agents include Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks like Kurt Warner and Jeff Hostetler, as well as Hall of Fame running back John Riggins. Even Tom Brady, widely considered to be the greatest quarterback of all time, was an Undrafted Free Agent.
