For example, this year’s worst team in overall standings -the New Jersey Devils- has an 18.5% chance (or 11 out of 59 balls/combinations) of winning this year’s draft lottery while last year’s Stanley Cup Champions -the Washington Capitals- only have a 0.5% chance (or 1 out of 199 balls/combinations) of winning.
The balls are then put into a bin and drawn out one by one to determine which team will receive which pick in this year’s Entry Draft. The results of each drawing are as follows:
