As the NHL season gets underway, we take a look at one of the most hotly debated topics in the sport – the size of goaltenders. Are they getting too big?

But even though there are a few gigantic and a few tiny goalies in the NHL, most netminders tend to fall somewhere in between those two extremes. The average NHL goalie is about 6-foot-2 and195 pounds, though there is some variation from team to team.
