The team was founded in 2009, replacing the Central Illinois Travelers as the Midwest League affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals The team is named for the cardinal, the state bird of Illinois.

Kaskaskia baseball is a team that competes in the National Baseball Congress World Series an annual championship tournament for semi-professional and amateur baseball teams. The team is based in Kaskaskia, Illinois, and plays its Home Games at Rent One Park. The team’s colors are maroon and gold, and its mascot is a dog named Cooper.
The team was founded in 1926 as a semi-professional team affiliated with the National Baseball Congress. The team won the National Baseball Congress World Series in 1929, 1933, 1936, 1937, 1939, 1940, 1941, 1942, 1943, 1944, 1945, 1946, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1954, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1959 and 1960.
In 1961 Kaskaskia became a charter member of the Midwest League (now called the American Association), and played in that league through the 1962 season. The franchise transferred to Joplin after the season.

The team was founded by former Major League player, John McGraw. McGraw was hired by the team’s owner, Charles Comiskey, to help run the team. Comiskey was the owner of the Chicago White Sox at the time. McGraw served as the team’s manager for two years before being replaced by another former major leaguer, Frank Chance.
The team’s first game was played on April 23, 1903, against the Peoria Reds. The game was played at Comiskey Park, which was also the home of the White Sox Kaskaskia won the game by a score of 9-3. The team went on to finish their inaugural season with a record of 26-20. They finished in second place in their division behind the first place Springfield Senators.
The following season, 1904, was even better for Kaskaskia as they finished with a record of 33-17 and won their division title. They qualified for their first ever playoff appearance but lost to Springfield in the semifinals. In 1905, Kaskaskia made it back to the playoffs but again lost to Springfield in the semifinals.
After a few down years, Kaskasksia returned to prominence in 1910 when they finished with a record of 35-15 and won their second division title in seven years. They once again lost to Springfield in the playoffs though. In 1911, Kaskaksia had another strong season and made it back to the playoffs but this time they were able to win semifinal matchup against Springfield before losing to eventual champions Decatur in the finals. 1912 brought more playoff disappointment as Kaskskia lost in the semifinals yet again but 1913 was finally their year as they beat Decatur in the semifinals and then went on to defeat Peoria in the final series to win their first ever championship.
The team would go on to win two more championships in 1914 and 1915 before going through another down period for much of the 1920s and 1930s. In 1940, though, they won their fourth championship thanks largely to future hall-of-famer Carl Hubbell who pitched them to victory in both playoff series’.
Kasakakia experienced more success after World War II as they won division titles in 1946, 1947, and 1948 although they were unable to win any championships during that time period. Following another down period throughout most of 1950s and 1960s, Kasakakia once again became one of best teams in league winning division titles 1970, 1971 ,and 1972 although they were unable once again convert those titles into championships.”’
