Pre-Season

Pre-season Louisiana High School Baseball Rankings are out and there is a new #1 team.

The Catholic high school Bears are the new top team in the state, taking over the top spot from last year’s State Champions the St. Thomas Aquinas Falcons.

The Bears are led by a strong pitching staff, which includes LSU commit Daniel Cabrera and Tulane commit Brooks Vial. The team also has a solid lineup, led by senior third baseman Jake Roper.

The Falcons drop to #2 in the rankings, but are still a strong team. They are led by senior pitcher and Mississippi State commit Cole McKay. The team also has a solid lineup, which includes LSU commit Gavin Cecchini and Arkansas commit Dominic Taccolini.

The Rummel Raiders round out the top 3, coming in at #3 in the rankings. The Raiders are led by senior pitcher Alex Lange who is headed to LSU next year. They also have a strong lineup, which includes Texas A&M commit George Janca and Louisiana-Lafayette commit Dylan Butler.

Regular Season

The Louisiana high school baseball Rankings are compiled by a panel of Louisiana Baseball experts and take into account a team’s entire regular season schedule.

Post-Season

The Louisiana High school baseball Rankings are selected by a panel of coaches from across the state. The rankings are done in a post-season format and are released at the end of the regular season

State Playoffs

The Louisiana high school baseball Rankings are compiled by a committee of Louisiana High School Coaches and Media Members. The committee meets weekly to discuss and rank the top baseball teams in Louisiana. The committee’s rankings are then used to determine which teams will make the state playoffs.

The State Playoffs are held every spring and are open to all high school baseball teams in Louisiana. The playoffs are single elimination and the winner is crowned the Louisiana high school baseball State Champion.

State Championships

In order for a team to be eligible for the state championship tournament, they must first win their District Championship. The top 32 teams in the state, regardless of classification, make the tournament. If two or more teams are tied in the standings, then a play-in game or games will be necessary to determine which team or teams advance to the State Tournament
