Standings

The regular season has come to an end and the standings are finalized. The Warriors are on top of the heap once again, with the Rockets and the Raptors rounding out the top three. The first round of the playoffs will be exciting, to say the least.

Eastern Conference

The Eastern Conference of the NBA is made up of 15 teams, organized into three divisions. The divisional and conference winners advance to the playoffs.

The Boston Celtics are in first place in the Atlantic Division with a record of 48-22. The Toronto Raptors are in second place with a record of 47-23. The Philadelphia 76ers are in third place with a record of 42-28.

In the Central Division, the Milwaukee Bucks are in first place with a record of 60-10. The Indiana Pacers are in second place with a record of 46-24. The Detroit Pistons are in third place with a record of 40-30.

The Miami Heat are in first place in the Southeast Division with a record of 44-26. The Charlotte Hornets are in second place with a record of 39-31. The Orlando Magic are in third place with a record of 32-38.

Western Conference

The Western Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA) is one of two conferences that makes up the association, the other being the Eastern Conference. Like the Eastern Conference, the Western Conference is made up of 15 teams, organized in three divisions.

The divisional alignment was adopted at the start of the 2004–05 season, when then- commissioner David Stern announced plans to realign the NBA’s 28 teams into six divisions: three each in both the Eastern and Western Conferences. These divisions were later renamed to better reflect geographical locations (Southeast and Southwest for instance) rather than geographic or cultural regions (Central and Midwest).

As a result of realignment, all 30 NBA teams will play 82 regular season games against teams within their own conference. For May, these are the standings:

Western Conference

1. Denver Nuggets 67 46 21 .687 – 26-9 20-12 6-4 Won 2
